Mission: Provide diapers to children and adults through community partners, increasing health, wellness, security and independence.
Programs: Diaper bank operations:the diaper bank received 1,631,750 donated diapers and distributed 1,095,308 diapers through 53 partner agencies at 85 locations in 10 counties. There were 53 drives held throughout our service area by civic groups, faith-based organizations, schools and businesses. Included in the number of total diapers donated are 945,659 diapers provided by a grant from the national diaper bank network. The total value of donated diapers is $215,369. 15. We served 16,671 unique individuals at least once during the course of the fiscal year and of those, 80% were children under the age of 18. Volunteers donated approximately 4729 hours of time to help ensure that diapers reached those in need.
public awareness:this year the diaper bank again significantly increased its presence in the community. We modified our diaper distribution process in a way that created hundreds of additional volunteer opportunities, and as a result had volunteer groups from businesses and organizations that were previously unfamiliar with the diaper bank. Diaper bank staff and volunteers set up information tables at large community events throughout pima county including the tucson festival of books and tucson medical centers be safe saturday. We also began outreach and advocacy efforts to lay groundwork for legislation to eliminate sales tax on diapers and feminine hygiene products.
