Beth and her crew are just amazing! In addition to their usual good work, they have come through in a pinch at the last minute on many occasions. I have lost count of the number of bare and/or rundown apartments Deserving Decor has furnished and decorated for my clients, both in shelter and moving out of homelessness. The heart of these incredible volunteers shows through in the amount of time and physical labor they put into each project, as well as the attention they pay to every last detail. I have seen women cry tears of joy at the beauty they never imagined possible. I have witnessed the amazement and gratitude of youth and families who would need months to furnish their new homes, let alone accessorize them. The impact on the recipients' self-esteem is indescribable. Deserving Decor is truly a blessing in our community.
The volunteers of Deserving Décor provide an invaluable service for many people, taking the time and effort to bring not just the essentials to those they help but by exceeding expectations to bring design and dignity while making a positive impact in the community.
Deserving Decor has helped many families, mainly women and children, turn their living space into a home by providing furnishings, bedding materials and most recently, beds. They have also worked to bring awareness to Domestic Violence.
What a WONDERFUL organization!!!! "Deserving Décor" is a group of volunteers that helps families get their life back together. Their time and generosity is amazing!!!
I have volunteered for Deserving Decor for three years. It has been a very rewarding experience for me. It is nice to know that you are making a difference in someone's life by providing them with a comfortable and safe environment to live in. Deserving Decor is very dedicated to helping provide essential furnishings and household items for women and children in need in Bucks County. We collaborate our efforts with Good Stuff Thrift Stores, A Woman's Place, Bucks County Housing Group and R.J.Leonard Foundation. It is a very worthwhile organization to support. Gerri Kraske
I have been involved with Deserving Decor for 4+ years. I started out helping clean, furnish and decorate shelter apartments. The group has helped 100s of women and children leaving domestic abuse shelters and escaping homelessness. Now we help these individuals as well as homeless veterans and foster children get back on their feet when they move into their first apartments. We provide necessities, such as beds, tables, dressers, couches, bedding and linens, kitchen essentials, etc to the families free of charge so they can set up their home and be successful as they start over. This is an amazing organization doing wonderful things for people.
Deserving Decor is one of those non-profits that makes a direct impact on peoples lives by providing essential furniture, linens, kitchen ware and other essentials to those that have absolutely nothing.
I have helped out a few times with furnishing, setting up apartments for people in need. The organization goes far and beyond to give everyone a well-deserved home.
This non profit is a terrific organization that provides services for woman and their children who need housing. They are dedicated and passionate about what they do.
I have been a volunteer with Deserving Decor for about 3 years and am continuously impressed with the work our volunteers do. We help provide essential furniture, bedding, linens etc. to women and children escaping domestic violence, homelessness, and teens aging out of the foster care system. We are a non-profit organization, none of our volunteers are paid, and we rely solely on donations to provide these essentials. Our volunteers work tirelessly to pick up donations, refurbish donations if needed, and deliver them to the families. We try our best to create a "home" for our clients which has a great impact on their lives.
I am an avid repurposer! I love to paint furniture! The challenge to find the right piece at the right price is exhilarating! To be able to GIFT these creations to someone in need fills my heart to overflowing! Having 4boys of my own, my heart breaks thinking at the age of 18 they get forced out on their own from the foster care system. Deserving decor gives me the opportunity to love them! Thanks for all you do for your clients!
Deserving Decor volunteers provide hope and help for women and children leaving homeless and domestic violence shelters. The volunteers are extremely dedicated and work very hard to provide women and children make a fresh start in a new rental apartment by providing beds, furniture, linens and more. It is a heartwarming, worthwhile endeavor that is greatly needed and appreciated by the families in crisis.
Deserving Decor is doing great things in our community. I volunteered to help set up an apartment for a homeless mother and her three small children. They pay attention to all the details and are focused on make the spaces clean, and safe for the children. Not to mention when they are done the apartments have the comfort and feel of a home.
Deserving Decor is an amazing organization. Their role in helping turn over shelter units is vital. Once a client moves out of our shelter, Deserving Decor comes in to clean and spruce up the unit for the next family. They do a great job of decorating and preparing for the specific family that is coming in. If it is a mom and a newborn baby girl, they decorate appropriately. The units are so homey when the Deserving Decor is finished. They really put their hearts into what they do. Aside from doing a really great job, they are also really great women. Each of them are so kind and take such pride in what they do. It is always a pleasure working with them!
I was not familiar with Deserving Decor until my recent employment with the Bucks County Housing Group as Volunteer Coordinator. When it was time for my us to turnover our first apartment and prepare it for our new family, I was in awe when Deserving Decor appeared with a large truck filled with everything imaginable to furnish a home, along with many enthusiastic volunteers eager to clean, decorate and truly transform the apartment. They proceeded to do deep cleaning, replace old bed and mattresses, lamps and tables. They provided curtains, pictures, matching bedding, pillows and couches, and chairs. They went out of their way to color cooridinate bedding, bathroom, and kitchen accessories etc. That was to be my first experience with Deserving decor followed by many more outstanding apartment makeovers. Beth Baker and her volunteers are dependable, dedicated people who give so generously of their time and resources. They take immense pride in doing a good job, doing their best to ensure a welcoming, attractive and clean living space for our families. It is such a pleasure working with Deserving Decor and we are very blessed to have their help!
I've had the pleasure of working with this non-profit organization, volunteering my time setting up apartments – painting, cleaning, decorating. Deserving Decor is a unique business that not only meets the basic needs of providing furniture and accessories for families who are going into transitional housing, but also breathes a breath of fresh air into the space, by decorating each space with the unique needs of the tenants in mind, adding a personal touch. Deserving Decor makes a house a home.

Cathy, Thank you so very much for your hard work cleaning, painting and decorating the shelter apartments in Morrisville and Penndel. We value your contributions and appreciate your feedback. Beth Baker Founder & Executive Director
Reminiscent of HGTV’s Deserving Design, Beth Baker’s non-profit, charitable organization, Deserving Décor, was created with a genuine passion for homeless families – particularly for women and their children. Convinced that everyone deserves a place to live that is both clean and comfortable, Beth has faithfully pursued endless avenues to make her dream of decorating transitional apartments in Bucks County a reality. She has a contagious spirit and incredible endurance, which often translates into long hours spent in completing each makeover to her satisfaction. She seems to have a very thorough understanding of the fact that these apartments can be a true source of hope for their occupants, since they bridge the gap between a traditional shelter and a more permanent place to live. Working with the appreciative employees and volunteers of the Bucks County Housing Group, she does everything in her power to ensure that the rooms are sparkling clean; any worn out furniture has been replaced; artwork is coordinated with the space; window treatments and bed linens are crisp and fresh. When difficulties arise, Beth has impressive problem-solving skills and willingly returns to the apartments the following day (or days) to replace or restore items. I have worked with her and other volunteers in Doylestown, Penndel and Morrisville. No matter what the itinerary, she spends some part of almost every day in collecting donated furnishings and has put a great deal of effort into procuring storage space. She also remains fervent about finding any means of making the public aware of the organization and its needs. This requires her to spend hours in fundraising pursuits and in persuading others of the merits of Deserving Décor through social media and other platforms. Something that has really impressed me is her interest in the details of each and every makeover. She takes great care in the coordination of colors and design for the rooms, even when resources are extremely limited. For instance, there is a continued need for lamps and artwork. On two occasions, she has mentioned purchasing lamps herself, to match existing ones, and has been excited about finding them. I have also witnessed her taking home window treatments and linens that she will personally clean and return to the space – and have seen her on her hands and knees scrubbing bathrooms, along with the rest of us. Although upon entering an apartment it is often disheartening to realize how much work will be needed to prep it for decorating, I think every volunteer walks away from the scene uplifted, gratified for the moments spent in improving someone’s world, and full of imaginings of how the family will respond to its seemingly new and captivating space. Beth is no quitter, and there are many families in Bucks County who I am sure will be eternally grateful for how she has magically transformed their temporary residences into warm and inviting homes – a giving stranger, who demonstrated she cared about the quality of their lives.
I am a new volunteer for Deserving Decor in Bucks County. I have spent many years in charity and in volunteeering. What attracted me to help, was the fact that it is new and had a real connection with it's mission. I hope to help them iron out their organization and get through the growing pains. It feels good to work with people who really care.

Than you Jesse for your never ending hard work and dedication picking up the numerous furniture donations we receive every week , coming up with fundraising ideas and persuing them, helping clean and perfom the apartment makeovers. You are a true asset to Deserving Decor! Beth Baker Founder & Executive Director
I am a new volunteer for Deserving Decor which I found out about on-line. It is always rewarding to be able to help those who are in need. Beth Baker does an extraordinary job operating the organization. There is always so much to do to get an apartment ready, but she does a great job. I hope that those who move into the apartments appreciate all of the hard work put into them, from the cleanliness, new bed linens, furniture, to the flower arrangements. Keep up the good work Beth! i was VERY enthusiastic about getting involved - loved the premise of directly helping a person in need - several times i called - great talk - no call back to tell me WHERE to go - said i had donations - took several tries to get the person to pick them up - finally got a call to go - ready to go again - was given WRONG directions - E mail later said OH sorry - thought you were somebody ELSE ! the next thing was a FLEA mkt with the items i thought were going to a needy person - I COULD HAVE FLEA MKT'd them !

I am very sorry your unpleasant experience. We make every effort to provide timely and correct information to all of our volunteers, currently about 50 volunteers are signed up, although not all are active. If I knew who you were I could straighten things out. We are just over a year old and going through a great deal of growing pains. Recently a number of volunteers were assigned roles to help smooth out volunteer coordination and donation pickup and delivery. Doantions have been coming faster than we anticipated and storage is also an issue. It takes time to get everything running as smoothly as it should especially when you grow as fast as Deserving Decor has this past year. We now have four storage units to manage (and are in the process of aquiring a fifth) and service five shelter locations (we started out with one). As for the fundraising flea market, your items are not necessarily going to be sold, depending on what you donated. We are selling items we have received through donations that we are unable to use for the makeovers and the proceeds will be used to buy items we do need (as stated on the donation page of our website). We always need sofas, loveseats, dressers, and especially lamps (floor and table), artwork and bed linens and go through more than we receive. Feel free to contact me to discuss any of these issues.
