Causes: Crime & Law, Half-Way Houses for Offenders & Ex-Offenders
Mission: To liberate broken men of their bondage of sin and addiction by the transforming power of the gospel of jesus christ and to equip them to become prosperous disciples of christ with kingdom vision, purpose, and direction.
Programs: Since inception in 2004, denton freedom house (dfh) has assisted hundreds of men struggling with drug and alcohol additions. In 2016, dfh admitted 94 new residents and 20 returning residents, for a total of 114. Residents include men coming out of a variety of situations including prison, homelessness, as well as traditional homes. There is no cost to the men entering the discipleship program. The program is funded by donations from individuals, churches, and businesses. In 2016, dfh had over 320 donors supporting the program. The dfh program includes discipleship, mentoring, and work training in areas which include landscaping, facilities repair and maintenance, construction, culinary arts, and office administration. The men who enter dfh become the future leaders of dfh. Discipline, structure, and servant leadership are the key characteristics of the program. Men who arrive at the denton freedom house are restored and sent back to serve the community.
