Mission: Democracy fund voice is a nonpartisan organization established in 2014 to conduct and support advocacy that will produce a stronger, healthier democracy in the united states.
Programs: Promote civil politics:democracy fund voice believes that hate speech, fear mongering, and rhetoric that condones political violence are dangerous for our democracy. We support organizations working to elevate the tenor and quality of public debate, and to foster more civil politics. For example, in 2016 democracy fund voice supported faith in public life action fund to engage a diverse group of faith leaders from across the political spectrum in a call to promote more civil politics.
promote participation:democracy fund voice believes our republic is stronger when more eligible voters participate and are fully informed in critical elections. We have supported organizations that educate, register, and activate voters. For example, in 2016 democracy fund voice supported national voter registration day, a nonpartisan, nonprofit effort to raise national awareness of voter registration deadlines in every election cycle. (we do not support efforts or organizations that endorse candidates. )
improve journalism:democracy fund voice believes that vibrant media organizations are needed to inform voters and hold our leaders accountable. We support advocacy for stronger media and engaged citizens. For example, in 2016, democracy fund voice supported free press action funds public spectrum project to test the viability of a campaign that will work to ensure some of the funds raised from the sale of non-commercial tv licenses are invested to sustain local journalism and community information needs.
