Volunteer driven maritime museum and nature park. 36 acres located on Mill Creek, Deltaville, VA. In the water exhibits of antique boats and a 5200 square foot maritime museum. The grounds include a 95 percent volunteer built 8400 square foot pavilion. Currently there are 4 paid employees with a volunteer board of directors. Each year the museum sponsors Family Boat Building Week where the families build either a 12 or 14 foot John Wright skiff using time tested boat building techniques. No plywood is used in the boat construction. After the families build their boat the boat goes home with the family. So far 120 family built boats have gone home with their builders.
