Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals
Mission: To protect and care for animals, especially those that are homeless or stray; to shelter homeless and stray animals; and to education the public to prevent cruelty to animals.
Programs: Animal health and welfare including cleaning dog kennels and cat cages; feeding and watering animals; cleaning and maintaining animal facilities; handling animal food, litter, and supplies; bathing and grooming animals; treating animals with vaccinations; de-worming animals; walking dogs and socializing pets; administering medications; transporting animals to and from vet hospitals; bottle feeding abandoned kitty litters; and preparing and maintaining animal health records.
animal adoption services including matching pets with the right owner; showcasing pets to prospective owners; provding pet personality trait information to prospective adopters; maintaining pet health and background records; reviewing, approving, and/or declining adoption applications; and explaning conditions of animal contracts.
public education and awareness including educating customers and others about the need for spay/neutering, the pet overpopulation crisis, and responsible pet ownership; referring animal abuse calls to appropriate law enforcement; teaching owners how to bottle feed abandoned kittens; counseling customers on alternative ways to find homes for their pets; referring customers to other shelters; taking and displaying lost pet information; handing out public educational materials and maintaining informational displays; and giving shelter tours to groups.
