Nonprofit Overview

Mission: The Ainsley Paige Higgins’ Dare To Hope Foundation, Inc. works to raise awareness and better the lives of children with rare diseases and/or complex medical conditions. Our services include procuring free or low-cost legal and advocacy assistance, furnishing medical supplies not covered by insurance, offering toys to brighten a child’s day, providing community resource referrals and coordination and offering emotional support to families.

Target demographics: children either diagnosed with a rare, chronic or critical medical issue, or undiagnosed with complex medical issues

Programs: Services in Georgia: We provide resource referral and coordination to families in Georgia with children affected by rare or complex medical issues including: help and advocacy for school IEPs procuring durable medical equipment applying for Medicaid waivers, grants & scholarships, insurance claims, etc. help with home education & therapy tools locating or establishing on-line & local support We work with existing services and grant opportunities and strive to “fill in the gaps” for Georgia’s families. Contact [email protected] to find out more. Programs: The Dare To Hope Foundation has worked tirelessly to provide the Georgia Disabled Community & Beyond with community connections, global resources and international awareness of rare and complex diseases. Current programs include: Toy and diaper drive benefitting Georgia’s children on waiting lists for services, children in long-term hospital stays & treatment, children confined to home care, etc. Cell phone charger recycling program-collecting cell phone chargers to place in Children’s Hospital’s surgery waiting rooms Partnering with other rare disease organizations to raise funds & Global awareness of children’s medical issues On The Horizon: The Dare To Hope Foundation is working alongside other organizations, advocates and parents in our Discovering Area Resources for Exceptional Kids program to be unvieled throughout 2011. This state-by-state initiative will enable doctors, specialists and hospitals to hand a list of local resources to newly diagnosed families. This seems so simple, yet parents are often handed a devastating diagnosis (or prognosis with no known diagnosis) with nowhere to turn to answer questions or find support. Doctors have a difficult time keeping up with resources which tend to come & go.

Dare to Hope is such a wonderful organization. They assisted my family during a very difficult time in our lives. They have provided us services and guidance. I highly recommend them to any person or family with a complex medical issue!

This organization was founded on the basis of helping children and their families with rare and complex diseases who have few or little avenues of help available or remaining because their illnesses have no or minimal main stream support in international and national media circles. It is started by dedicated people who want to help others who are oft times frustrated by the lack of research and assistance funding available for these ill but never forgotten children. I wholeheartedly support this Foundation and its staff and ask others to find it in their hearts to join us in supporting those for whom this Dare To Hope Foundation was created. In this financial climate of many seeking charitable donations, the competition for a new charity, such as ours for volunteers and donations of materials and dollars could get lost beneath the umbrellas of the huge already established Charities in existence and in the media daily. We seek everyone who wants to help us, and would seek to find a well-known personality to become a spokesperson for Dare To Hope-celebrity, sports, political, author, etc. Also, at this early stage we would surely welcome the blessing of one or more large corporate sponsors to join us with their assistance in name, publicity and huge monetary support. We want to take this Foundation from the State of Georgia to the National Spotlight so many more deserving children can be helped. Won't you please join with us to make a difference in the lives of so many needy children and their parents? Children, who more times than not, have a shortened lifespan remaining are calling out to us. Where there is no cure, hope is many times our only miracle. Thank you.

My son, who is almost 3, suffers from Barth syndrome, a rare disease.
Dare to hope provided him with wonderful learning toys that he enjoys daily. I am very thankful to them and they have my full support. I hope to be in the position one day to give back to this deserving non profit.
Thanks to Dare to Hope for putting a smile on my son's face!

Dare to Hope provides a terrific service to families who are often underserved because their medical needs do not fall into the "mainstream" of illnesses and diagnoses. They help families with everything from Christmas gifts to medical networking with similar families! They are devoted to helping each and every family that contacts them and I support and applaud their efforts. I highly recommend DTH and I hope many others continue to support them so they can grow and help more and more families!
