For 20 years The Daniel Jordan Fiddle has been a pioneer and leader in adult Autism. Innovating and inspiring through community based opportunities for adults throughout the United States, the first endowment funds in the world at leading universities focused on adult Autism, public policy leadership and social entrepreneurial endeavors that inspire the world such as The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation Leader in Adult Autism award with the Autism Society of America.
It has been an honor and a privilege to work with The Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation for the past several years.
When founder Linda Walder started the Foundation in 2002, she was quite literally the only voice in the autism world talking about adults on the Spectrum and about the challenges they faced as they transitioned out of government-mandated programs and protections. The Foundation adopted an activist role, blazing trails to develop, fund, and advocate for programs and public policy related to all aspects of adult life, including job training, residential living, the arts, recreation, health and wellness, and socialization.
Today, the Foundation continues its leadership role, on a global scale, by increasing awareness and knowledge about aging and autism and by inspiring and advancing changes in the way the government and the public at large think about autistic adults.
From its grassroots autism outreach programs in communities throughout the U.S., to its groundbreaking endowment programs in collaboration with the nation's leading universities, the Foundation continues to address critical issues in adult autism and to advance the creation of new studies and model programs that expand opportunities for the diverse adult autistic population worldwide.
Says Linda Walder: "Our aim is to ensure that for generations to come there will be an impactful focus on adult autism. Today more than 3.5 million Americans live with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, and we need to do more to understand adult autism and to create as many paths as we can for adults to participate in and contribute to community life.
