Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals
Mission: Rescue and find homes for unwanted animals. The only orgainization in the community that traps, neuters/spays and returns animals back into the community to reduce overpopulation in feral cats.
Programs: There were approximately 20 senior cats and 20 abused cats and 5 abused dogs rescued and housed. Approximately, 150 animals are housed, fed, vacinated and cared for annually. Of these 150 animals, 50 to 75 are adopted out each year to families across the country. The senior to senior program performs a vital service to the aging population of the community by 'lending' senior animals to senior citizens who desire short-term companionship in their home but are unable to physically and/or monetariy care for the animal. D&s provides the services necessary to maintain the animal in the home of the senior citizen. D&s also is instrumental in the trap, neuter, return (tnr) program in the community and has been actively doing so for over 20 years. Feral cats are trapped where they live, neutered or spayed and then returned to their original place where they lived. This program keeps the feral cats from being euthenized while controlling the feral cat population.
