The water monitoring data that CUSH has been accumulating for years has been vital for organizations like Save the Sound and The Nature Conservancy, as well as environmental studies programs at URI and UConn to help assess and address water quality issues in Southeastern CT.

Dedicated volunteers collect water samples and then spend an hour or so doing some of the water testing. This happens at daybreak, rain or shine at intervals during the summer and early fall. The results let us know the conditions of our shoreline waters.

CUSH (Clean Up Sound & Harbors) is an all-volunteer organization with more than two dozen dedicated individuals sampling every two weeks, testing the water quality of the Stonington, CT estuaries.
