Mission: Reinvention wheels, inc. Donates and deploys bicycles to improve mobility in underprivileged communities, thereby improving community residents' access to healthcare, education, sanitary water and employment.
Programs: In 2013, reinvention wheels donated cash and bicycle equipment to food for the poor (ffp). In cooperation with ffp and amigos for christ, reinvention wheels deployed a program in rural nicaragua which granted bicycles to families and community members. Families were selected based on use of a bicycle enabling improved access to employment and income, or in use to operate small businesses. Bicycles were granted to teachers and nurses as well, which has permitted more frequent travel to rural communities, and the delivery of education and health services. Each month, a program manager visits recipients to inspect bicycles and offer repair and maintenance support as needed to promote long-term utility of bicycles.
