Mission: The core mission of the organization is to assist homeless or at-risk individuals secure stable homes. This is accomplished by providing a range of services including housing location, housing, basic needs, shelter, case management, referrals, and education and employment services.
Programs: Adult & family housing, shelter and supportive services - during 2017, crossroads assisted 1,740 individuals secure or maintain housing. 2420 individual accessed shelter services; 150 domestic violence survivors accessed services. Crossroads is the largest provider of housing and services in the state of rhode island and is the only homeless services agency that provides services for the homeless 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During 2017, more than 3300 rhode islanders accessed services at one of crossroads locations statewide. Of the 1,100 assessment conducted more than 45% of families and 43% of individual were classified of being high risk. In addition to assiting individuals with securing housing leases with private property owners, crossroads own and or manages over 350 residences (including the 296 mentioned below)
property management / affordable housing - crossroads rhode island acts as the general partner and managing agent in three limit partnership low-income housing tax credit properties. Services include property managagement administrative services and case management services. These properties provide a combined total of 296 single room occupancy, efficiencies, and one to four bedroom units. The objective of this program is to ensure that crossroads has an inventory of affordable housing that provides a safe, clean and respectful living environment for our clients.
education and employment services - earning a living wage is key to housing stability. Education and employment supports are completely integrated in our housing-based case management services. This ensures that clients find and maintain meaningful educational and employment pursuits. During 2017, we provided more than 500 clients with services, as a result, more than 115 previously unemployed adults re-entered the work force.
