Causes: Business & Industry
Mission: Promote and maintain adequate funding to market fisheries products from ak; develop markets for fisheries products; assist fishers to market and develop fisheries products; and undertake any other activities that may be deemed to be in the best interests of the corp, not prohibited by law.
Programs: Our webmaster is currently in the process updating our website which includes expanding of bios section with the younger fishermen/women that have joined our organization, adding a vessel photo gallery and an action photo gallery to help the viewing public understand the effort it takes and the excitement of catching fish in the north pacific ocean.
csma successfully negotiated a roe buying agreement for the cross sound fishery. The processor established a tendering schedule to enable the roe to be transported to the processor via vessels instead of the more costly float plane service as was previously necessary.
csma has continued to expand as well as maintain the infrastructure and services for the fishing fleet working in cross sound. A hardware/marine hardware section was added to the store and the inventory is being expanded. Csma partners with a hydraulic business in juneau to acquire equipment and inventory to do onsite manufacturing and repair work in elfin cove. As the fishing season approaches the groceries, fishing gear, hardware and clothing for the store has been ordered and is making its way to elfin cove.
