Where do I start Ted Koran is s very kind man, he takes care of animals that people no longer want. The old, the ill , the challenged his heart is very big . I have been to the critter place and I have seen the way he cares for all of the animals you can see that they are well cared for and loved. Ted cares for all of them. I wish that I had more time to get up to his place to help him and just to talk to him as many animals that are there I am sure he gets lonely . This is a wonderful place and Ted has a special connection with his animals I wish we had more people like him in this world.
I had the opportunity to visit a couple years ago. Ted does a great job taking care of the animals. He does this all on his own.

I have visited The Critter Place many times and cannot wait for the opportunity to go again! The love and devotion that Ted has for these animals that were thrown away by others simply melts my heart. The Critter Place is always my non-profit of choice when I have a little discretionary income to use to help others.

The Critter Place is my favorite place to donate money! I have been lucky enough to visit a few times (and clean the cat house) and I can't wait until my schedule allows me to make the next visit! It's always a pleasure to visit with Ted and all the critters! (Don't tell the others but Squigly is my favorite!!!)
We spent several days this summer at The Critter Place. We traveled from far west Texas to visit with Ted and the critters. We have been a donor for a number of years. This was a wonderful experience. We were able to meet the animals we have read about for so long. The animals included every kind including horses, dogs, cats, pigs, and a goose. They were all well cared for & loved. There were some who had special needs usually due to abuse. They were each given whatever they needed physically & emotionally. Considering how many had been abused, they have come so far in trusting people. We were even chosen by a kitty to come live with us.
Ted Koran and The Critter Place are amazing. No matter the kind of critter abandoned, he will take care of it. Dogs, cats, pigs, horses - even a goose. They all find a place to be nurtured and cared for at The Critter Place. I visited Ted and his crew this summer and was amazed at how organized he was. He taught me how to feed horses and pigs, something I’d never done before. It is obvious he loves animals and will do anything to take care of them. He once spent several months making daily visits to where an abandoned dog was living trying to convince him to come to him. King now is a happy and healthy dog. That’s the kind of work done at The Critter Place.
Where should I begin? He is a kind man who along with his wife, started taking in animals that otherwise would not have survived. I had heard about him many times but, I always thought that I would look him up later. Well, I finally managed to go out and meet this wonderful gentleman who runs this place. Before I left that sunny afternoon, I agreed to help him out 2 days a week with whatever was needing to be done and most of all, I was getting to help these wonderful critters.
I've also opened up a bit more out of my shy little shell and its all thanks to this man. Being here and getting to actually help the animals was the icing on the cake for me. Sure, its hard work but, getting to work along side this great man...it has no words. If you can, volunteer or even donate because every little bit helps with the for all of the wonderful animals.
Ted is a man with a servant's heart. After his wife and partner passed, he continued on his own to upkeep the sanctuary and leave its doors open as place of refuge for animals others have neglected or given up on. It certainly cannot be easy spending whole days going through the motions of care and level of maintenance that a menagerie of animals entails, but he does it and does so gladly knowing he's making a positive difference. The world could use more people like Ted.
Ted Koran is one in a million. He has saved so many animals from certain death. Animals that even other sanctuaries would not take. He works with them and nurses them so they can live thier best life without fear or abuse. It is amazing the stories he has to share. If you can donate or volunteer, he could use the help. He does it by himself even with his current health issues. He is a gift from God to all the critters in his care.
Where do I start? Well, I first found out about the Critter Place on a website called One Green Planet, they had done an article on his sanctuary. I was very touched by the fact that this man, Ted Koran, was so compassionate and loving towards these beautiful creatures. Taking care of them all on his own is something to admire and appreciate. I got the honor of volunteering, with my father and a friend, at the Critter Place after Hurricane Irma came through Florida. It was honestly my first time volunteering for a creature sanctuary, I think for all three of us actually. I'm so very glad I did it! Seeing first hand how much Mr. Ted cares for the critters was inspiring. The life most of the creatures had lived before arriving at the Critter Place was just heartbreaking. So many of them you wouldn't have believed started out in such a bad way when you seeing how happy and cared for they are by Mr. Ted, it's amazing! It was so wonderful being there, I sincerely hope to help out there again soon.
I had the pleasure of working with all of Ted's rescued animals. These animals are well loved , some brought from bad situations in life to life all animals would love. To learn from a very knowledgeable animal lover such as Ted is an experience i will never forget.
The Critter Place is a wonderful Animal Sanctuary, where trow away animals find a place to live.Ted is taking in Animals nobody wants. Those Animals would not be alive anymore without his help.He loves all his Animals and takes great care of.I donate regularly and volunteer whenever I can. Please,if you can, donate, volunteer or adopt. You will be glad you did.
My name is KELLY and I stumbled upon THE CRITTER PLACE SANTUARY on Facebook about a year ago! After I read Ted Kodak's story of he and his late wife and critters..I donated money to help. Then..I decided I wanted to be more involved and started donating supplies..money and my time to help out!!
These animals were abused and thrown away at one time until they found their FUREVER HOME at the Critter Place. Ted and his late wife Karen opened their home and hearts to take care of these wonderful souls!! I love going there and visiting with all the CRITTERS and helping out. I truly enjoy listening to Ted tell me about his life..his love for Karen..and his undying wish to keep it going as his promise to Karen!! It's a great love story with a wonderful cast of CRITTER characters!! Please help out anyway you can.!! .but being there in person is AWESOME!

Ted Koran received 21 of my rescue cats into his sanctuary in December/January 2016. I had called over 200 places of all kinds to place them, as my mobile home park enacted a rule stating only one animal could reside at each address. I had adopted 10 out but needed a forever home fast for the rest or face eviction. Upon a recommendation, I called Ted, then visited the next day. To my surprise and relief, he agreed to take them. This was 4 days before my eviction deadline! The first 5 were to be taken to The Critter Place on that day, and the rest followed as Ted built additional an outdoor enclosure for them adjoining the "Cat House" converted RV.
His welcoming my "dead end" kitties blew me away! It had become an impossible situation placing them, as place after place had no room and referred me on. I couldn't believe this man just made room for them . I continue to support them there, in order to preserve his donations for the other animals. Ted tends to their needs promptly and efficiently. He makes copious videos of them, and you can see the individual care he gives them. I believe they couldn't be happier there. I invite all who read this to visit The Critter Place and volunteer some time to help Ted, as he does all the work himself. Thanks to the folks who do come out and help. I am somewhat disabled and haven't been able to do much in the past few months, but I visit and support. The Critter Place is a little bit of Heaven!

I have the greatest respect and admiration for Ted Koran and The Critter Place. Whenever I donate , I know the funds are spent on the sanctuary and animals. The animals from ducks to horses are all family to him, not numbers and he respects and loves the quirky personalities of each and every individual and makes them come alive for all the FB fans. I look forward to the daily postings to see who is up to what! This sanctuary is Ted's life and all the residents are his children. You can feel the love and dedication as well as the pain (when someone is ill) through his posts.
I have been out to The Critter Place many times to volunteer.. I wish I was closer.. Ted does so much for these babies with so little money. He is an amazing person, who loves each one one the animals.. From each chicken.. To all the horses.. He truly cares for each one..
Ted is an amazing man. He has saved countless pets when no one else has wanted them. These babies are so loved.
Ted cares for many rescued, unwanted animals and does so tirelessly. He devotes all of his time, love, and resources to care for them. We visited the sanctuary and saw how well they are all cared for. I am sure he would appreciate any assistance he can get, as it is a labor of love and so much for one person! We need more people like Ted Koran.
Amazing rescue and amazing guy keeping it going. All the animals are super happy and spoiled. Ted the owner works hard every day of his life for his critters. He barely makes time for himself, he just wants the best for these unwanted critters who now have a loving forever home. I wish there were more people like Ted. I look forward to visiting again and volunteering!
I met Mr. Koran by chance outside of a store. I stayed with my dogs while my husband picked up a few items. Mr. Koran saw my pups and asked if he could say hi to them. I told him that the older one was skittish and doesn't approach strangers. Mr. Koran just started talking softly and saying how pretty she was and to my amazement she came up to him, shy at first, and then waging her tail and let him pet her. I was actually shocked and asked him how he did that. He said he runs an animal sanctuary a few miles down the road called The Critter Place. WOW. I've been following his sanctuary for a few months on FB and couldn't believe this was that Ted Koran. I've donated several times. I went to visit. I have a severe disability and I told him I was sorry I could not be of much help. He simply said that loving the animals and giving them attention was plenty of help. He was sad he couldn't give them as much attention he would like and appreciated my help with that part. His animals are well behaved. They are all healthy and cared for. The animals areas are clean and maintained. He a very caring true animal lover.
The Critter Place, owned & operated by Ted Koran is where forgotten & throw away animals get to live out their natural lives in a great setting. Ted knows & loves his animals and it really shows. If you can find it in your heart to donate, adopt, foster, volunteer - you will be so glad you did. Ted really makes a difference and you can help - please do.

...I have know Ted for about 2 years....the first time I visited " the critter place " I knew he was a good caring guy today loved his animals and too great care of them ..... I could actually write a book here but I'll try to keep it short .... Ted mentioned he to help save dogs by creating a foster center so we worked together and put that together and Ted named it " the hope foster center " Recently I wanted to save a dog named Ruger from A shelter and did my best to network him with no luck and the and it came time that the shelter had to put Ruger on the PTS list ...in the " 11 th I called Ted / and he said he would save him " ...Ted's heart is for the animals / Rigar is now safe at " the critter place " and doing well ....I support you in finding Ted Koran on Face Book
follow him daily and see how a " real dog rescue person does " dog review/ animal rescue ...Ted is an official 501-c 3 rescue / so donations made to " his animals a tax deductible ...his PayPal is thecritterplace@yahoo.com ... Please visit Ted Koran on FB and make a difference in an animals life ...you can also visit me on FB / I'm the only Heath Bodden on FB ....Ps/ you will enjoy the Videos that Ted puts on his page .....every person on the planet needs to have " a passion " after seeing Ted on FB your passion may become dog /animal rescue
I'D like to tell everyone out there reading this that Ted koran is an amazing man. This man cares for over 60 animals by himself, these are animals thrown away by their previous owners. His dedication an love for his animal family is touching, he gives unending love an care to each one. This man spends every dollar of his small income to feed an give vet care to all his anumals. Please people can u make a donation to help him out. It's tax deductible an it's going to a good cause. He is truly a remarkable self sacrificing person. I ask all to give up Starbucks Coffee an pay it forward to this man's sanctury. Thanku for reading.
Ted is a selfless man with a true love for all creatures, great and small. He has given everything to the cause of helping animals, and The Critter Place is the embodiment of a lifetime of devotion.
The Critter Place is far above any normal animal shelter. The animals are free to roam and interact with volunteers, which makes for a very pleasant experience. Each animal is treated with such affection and love. Ted Koran shows true love and heart toward these abandoned or neglected animals and in doing so, has given them another shot at a long and happy life. I look forward to continuing my volunteer work here.
I was privileged to spend some time with Ted and the animals. You can see the love he has for each of his animals. He knows them all by name and their unique personalities. It's not a shelter where a number and a cage are assigned. The animals are free and receive love and human contact. Too bad we don't have more Ted's in the world!
It is amazing how these animals are cared for with so much love., and so little help. We can see first hand how amazing the hurt and abused animals are able to have a new lease on life and enjoy the rest of their days
For a long time I wanted to visit The Critter Place. Many times I private messaged Ted with questions about my cats. I live on the other end of Florida but Ted never hesitated to help me out. If he didn't have an answer he always refereed me to other cat rescues or cat people. He is always so helpful. I have followed The Critter Place on Facebook for a few years and when Karen passed away many of us mourned her passing. I was finally able to meet Ted in person a few weeks ago. He is so genuine. His passion and compassion for his animals is amazing. His love for Karen and his sorrow with her loss was impossible for him to hide. His anguish I could see in his eyes but I could see his strength through the tears he tried to hide. His love for his animals and Ted's resolve to keep his promise to Karen is very admirable. All of the animals are so well taken care of and it's amazing how he does it mostly alone. If only more men could show so much love and compassion to animals and fellow humans like Ted. I will make it a point to volunteer from now on. The time I spent with Ted and the animals has touched my heart in a strange but wonderful spiritual way. For a man of no religion his essence is like no other person I have ever met.
The Critter Place is a true sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals. Ted has devoted many years to providing these deserving animals with love, safety and excellent care. He loves these many pigs, horses, dogs, cats, birds and various other critters with all his heart and money - and it is clear they love him back. The Critter Place is amazing, and so is Ted.
The Critter Place is a fantastic sanctuary for these animals. Ted not only provides excellent care for them, he considers them family. He is so tuned-in to their needs and he just wants to provide the very best home for them. Absolutely awesome!
The critter place rocks! Ted Koran takes such great care of these animals that have had very rough lives. I have visited the critter place a few times, and I'm amazed at how Ted communicates with the animals, and how wonderful they are treated. They deserve to live the rest of their lives with love, and Ted makes sure they get it!!! Five stars indeed!!

It was equally a pleasure meeting a young lady with as much caring for animals as I do. I appreciate you and your friends for getting a crew together and help with some rebuilding of the sanctuary. Thank you.
2/20/15 ....... Today Pat Mulieri the commissioner of PASCO and I went and visited Ted's "CRITTER PLACE " and both Pat and I agree Ted runs wonderful place ....... All his animals are well taken care of and you can see the love that he has for everyone of them abd visa versa ...It's a privilege to know a man with such a great heart.... I am planning Donating $10 a month to the " CRITTER PLACE " and I would wish that some would do the same !!!

It was a pleasure to meet you, Heath, and Pat. Thanks for the visit.
For the longest time we have wanted to come and meet the residents of The Critter Pace, today was that day.... I had met Ted and Karen only once about 2 years ago, The respect I have for what Ted is doing, carrying on the legacy and last wishes of his beloved Karen were further reinforced with todays visit. The reception from the horses and of course Squiggly were wonderful, and of course the dogs with their very welcoming greetings, the beautiful cats and birds and guard goose, LOL. I don't know how you do it Ted, but your love for all those animals is truly beautiful, we are so happy that you all have each other. I strongly encourage everyone to call Ted and go meet the Critters, spent time and get to know them and hopefully you will feel the desire to support Ted in what he is doing for these beautiful pigs, horses, cats ,birds and dogs... They are truly a family and I for one am going to support that family, I hope you will do the same.. we'll see you and the Critters again soon!!!!!!!
The very first things I noticed when visiting the sanctuary were an amazing feeling of peacefulness and calmness. All animals were extremely friendly and seemed very happy, some even playful! They all looked healthy, well fed and had safe enclosures with everything the different species needed. They all gave me the impression of being pets, no matter how small or big. All enclosures were clean, with enough food, fresh water, bedding, toys and this alone requires enough work to keep several people busy all day.
I can only say that the dedication and love for each animal is to be felt almost physically. This sanctuary really deserves donations and volunteer work in any way possible!
Marion N. Seidel, a lifelong horse person.
I visited with Ted and the beautiful animals this morning. I brought my nephew with me and we had the best morning, it was a very relaxing atmosphere and the dogs were such great greeters. I was impressed at the appearance of all the animals being cared for, they were well fed and the horses looked great. Just visiting the critters was such a boost to my day as well as my nephews'. As I was leaving, Daisy such a beautiful dog with the greatest personality climbed into my truck wanting to go for a ride. I fell in love with all of the beautiful critters. I cannot wait to go and visit again. This is such a great place to visit with a child it shows them care and respect can go along way with animals and they are definitely cared for. Thank you Ted for the tour and the hospitality.
My daughter was in need of volunteer hours for her school. I learned of The Critter Place through a friend and fellow animal lover. Ted graciously allowed me to come to the sanctuary before granting my daughter permission so that I could inspect the premises and animals to ensure her safety. As he so eloquently put it "We live in weird times."
What Ted and Karen do, for animals as well as humans, is a beautiful thing. My daughter enjoyed her time working with the animals and Ted. It strengthened her love for animals, her self-confidence, and self respect.
It is difficult raising a child with emotional issues, (my daughter is bi-polar) it is wonderful to find others with a similar mind-set; that animals can be healers, and the love you give them, you get back in return.
I met Karen and Ted Koran many years ago, due to our shared love of the animals in need. There has not been a time that Ohana Rescue was in need that they did not show up here to help or to donate. These two give and give and in my opinion that is what is needed in society today. Givers. Their animals are all taken care of with the best of care, and love and for that the animals have learned trust. Most animals that end up in a rescue/sanctuary have suffered from some type of abuse or neglect, and it takes very special people to give of themselves to rehab the animals and that is just what THE CRITTER PLACE is all about...
I give them 5 thumbs up, or 5 star!
Ted and Karen are the most loving and caring people I have ever met. They have devoted their time and lives to help animals who need homes . Everyone of the Critters at their place has a name and is treated like a member of the family. They will go without to feed and care for the Critters that live there. I live close by so I see the way they care for their family of 60 or more different species of Critters. Yet they are all given love and kindness. I can honestly say they love their family at The Critter Place. These folks are the real deal when it comes to being a RESCUE. I appreciate what they do for all their Critters and will continue to support them in anyway I can...they have earned my respect for caring for animals that others would or could not care for. Genuine, loving, honest and caring are Ted and Karen at The Critter Place. What more can I say about this wonderful couple. Bless them for what they do.

Thank you for the kind words Audrel. Give Edward a big Oohrah for helping us with Mattie. She has come a long way since being rescued from slaughter 2 1/2 years ago. Thanks to you and Edward, the next chapter in her long and glorious life here at The Critter Place has begun.
Ted & Karen are totally dedicated to the animals that have found their way into their care. The animals are so well loved and cared for. I believe their comfort & welfare comes before Ted & Karens own.
It's a delight to meet all the 'critters' & see them enjoying their lives.
Without such dedication I know a lot of these animals would have already died or ended up in dismal conditions.
If there were more people like this couple no animal would be thrown away, neglected or left to fend for themselves. Kudos to Ted & Karen.
Thoroughly enjoyed this rescue! They are so compassionate about the animals, and such loving down to earth people! The animals are well taken care of, and definitely all loved! The Kitties all
Have their own house, which was kept clean and cozy, where they can go out as they please. I loved all the dogs, and they were all extremely friendly and happy. The pigs were great and clearly spoiled :)the horses were my favorite, and both were in beautiful shape, i fell in love! Loved everything about the critter place and the people who run it.

Yes, Your donations have been impactful. If it weren't for you, and others, there is no telling how the animals would have been. You have made it possible to keep them safe and healthy. Thank you. It was such a pleasure to have finally met you and thank you for the kind words.
