For those that spend time incarcerated, the hope is that they do not come back into the system. Empowering these people with education, and using valuable resources, provides better chances for a successful return into society. It is a misconception that incarcerated individuals can no longer contribute anything of worth to their families or community. The CDC is an organization that lends a hand to the belief that people are valuable, regardless of their past or current circumstances.

I have worked in correctional medicine for twenty-six years, and have seen over and over again the revolving door side of incarceration. It's very sad to see. When I heard of the work CorrectHealth is doing for inmates, I was happy to make a monetary contribution. Their work is timely and very much needed. I'm sure the inmates who have received assistance are extremely grateful. Keep up the good work, CorrectHealth!

Many areas lack the resources to provide needed training and classes for incarcerated individuals. This center offers wonderful classes to provide education and hope that past negative cycles can be broken and new healthy thinking can emerge. Keeping this center alive, is helping prevent future re-incarcerations.
I am a licensed therapist and have had the opportunity to work with this organization and see first hand the powerful impact of the services upon it's clients. This organization has choosen to serve the inmate poppulation, a group which historically has not always been the recipient of needed resources and skills. It is hoped that the services provided will have an impact on recividism by impacting their re-entry into the community in a positive manner.
The Parents Inside and Out program provides parenting skills to individuals who are incarcerated and assists in helping parents understand their ability to continue effective parenting despite their incarceration. Statistics show that parents who remain involved with their children during incarceration are less likely to re-offend. Their involvment also serves to lessen the negative repercussions of their incarceration upon their children ( i.e. adjustment disorders, attachment issues, behavioral and anger issues) by providing a sense of continuity and availability. The Henry County Sheriff department (where the program is conducted) has been an integral partner in the provisioning of both this program and the Substance Abuse and Healthy Thinking program. As a result of the positive relationship with the Sheriff Department, graduates of the parenting program are allowed a contact visit with their children during the graduation, where they are able to utilize some of the skills learned during the class. .
The Substance Abuse program is continuously requested due in large part to the dynamic group leader who has an extensive history of providing subtance abuse servcies to inmate populations on both a local, state and federal level. This groups provided participants with strategies for changing their decision making patters, and removing substances from their life. Topics relate to every area of life, such as relationships, parenting, employment, etc., and help individuals learn to cope in a healthy manner.

As healthcare providers in the correctional setting, the problem of recidivism is one we see on a daily basis. These individuals are trapped in a cycle that is nearly impossible to break free from without external support. This organization of dedicated professionals is working hard to break that terrible cycle without expecting any personal gain. The programs target interpersonal skills, parenting skills, and self-improvement in an effort to support their "escape".

This is a great organization. I've personally donated to the organization for over 2 years. The programs that they offer to break the cycle of incarceration impacts the individual, their family and their community.

I have had the pleasure of serving on the Board of Directors since the CDC's inception. In addition, each year, I run a 1/2 Marathon to raise money for the CDC's programs. I have personally attended both of the Graudations for Parents Inside and Out. I firmly believe in this organization's mission and purpose.

I have donated to the CorrectHealth Community Development Center through Stacy Blackman's run in the Atlanta Half Marathon. I have had the privilege of attending the graduation of the first class of the Parents Inside and Out program at the Henry County Jail...the impact of this program is phenomenal! My money is being well-spent!
