Our oldest daughter graduated from CoSA Musical Theater in 2013. Our youngest daughter is currently in her junior year with CoSA Musical theater. She also brought 2 friends with her when she started. Coronado School of the Arts has provided a supportive, educative, family-like environment. I have watched all of these children grow and can only say "Thank you" CoSA.
My girls started in sports in elementary and middle school but both of them drifted to the arts. I am so grateful that CoSA was there for them. My oldest was in the visual arts program where she blossomed. She is now attending SFAI (her first pick) and on the strength of her portfolio was given a four year scholarship. She is thriving there. My youngest daughter is a Junior in Musical Theater. She has gained so much poise and confidence.
As public schools are funding the arts less and less, the foundation is working tirelessly to bridge the gap. Without them we would be in danger of losing one or more conservatory to budget cuts.
CoSA Foundation is the fundraising side of the Coronado School of the Arts. This non-profit excels in integrity and accountability, providing clear communication to parents and donors. The realization that they are there for the advancement of the students is the foundation to every fund/friend raising event. The Foundation's financial diligence is revealed in a student body that advances to tertiary education in the Arts and beyond.
While arts are cut in schools everywhere, Coronado School of the Arts remains committed to the finest arts educatiion available at a public school. We are so lucky to have our children in this nationally ranked high school and in an excellent arts conservatory on top of it. I volunteer for the Foundation and am impressed with the ways they support the school and its great mission.
At first, I did not think there was any point in teaching high school students about the arts. How could that help them in the real world? The more I got to know about CoSA and the CoSA Foundation that supports the school, the more I realized CoSA is one of the best things to happen to high school students. The Foundation supplies them with teachers, opportunities, real life experiences that stimulate their creativity and help them become better prepared to enter college and/or to enter the job market in the entertainment, digital or arts worlds.
Coronado Schools Foundation makes the public school system competitive amongst the top private schools. We are so lucky to have an organization such as this serving our children and our community.
I came to this school because it is a gem in this nation. It truly is one of the top artistic learning environments in this nation. This is the type of school that needs and should be duplicated. CoSA foundation works very hard to support this great learning environment, we could not do it without them. Thanks for all you do! Spread the word!
I feel so incredibly grateful that my son got to spend four years at this amazing school. The quality of education that he received was far superior to anything else he could have gotten elsewhere. The hard work and dedication that he has shown has made me such a proud mom! He has spent his high school career learning appreciation of the arts, learning discipline and dedication, learning from wonderful staff and mentors, spending his time on worthwhile and important projects, making close friendships that will last a lifetime, and gaining confidence in himself that will carry him through his adult life. Without the commitment and dedication from the staff of this school and the foundation that supports it, this wonderful experience would not have been possible for my son. The quality of the performances and work that come from the students here would give any professional in the field a run for their money! The guests that come to see the shows here can not stop telling me how amazing and talented these kids are!
Twelve or more years ago, Kris McClung and a group of teachers put together what has become the Coronado School of the Arts. We worked many hours beyond the school day to develop this outstanding school, which gives a special group of kids the opportunity to spend extended school days involved in arts areas for which they have great passion. Since that time many of us have contributed our efforts toward helping to expand the offerings, thus opening more doors for even greater numbers of students for whom school became a wonderful, personal pursuit. Every time I attend a production, an exhibit, or a fundraising event, I am thankful for all the effort that went into developing a program that sends kids anxious to attend class. I am constantly amazed to sit in the audience or walk around a display and know that high school students are responsible for what I am enjoying. I have attended the same performances 3-4 times during a run. CoSA is truly a jewel in the educational program offered in the CUSD.
I believe CoSA has the strength to be a model for many other Schools around the country,
CoSA , Coronado School of the Arts is a conservatory balancing academics with the arts, a passion that keeps these kids connected.
The Cosa Foundation supports the additional hours of specialized teaching and equipment required to support these talented children’s passion in the arts.
The Foundation has increased the visibility of the School beyond the community, and with additional resources can provide the best instructors and pool talent from around the county. These children benefit not only in a pre-professional arts training but in a solid and challenging academic environment as well.
The Arts is a powful tool, for expression, to build strength, individuality, courage and grace.
CoSA Foundation is very worthy of every donation ...it supports the Coronado School of the Arts, which provides a safe and creative place for artistic teens. Artistic children often do not have any creative outlet in today's bland, one size fits all school system...students thrive in CoSA! Most going on to become artists and business people...
Everyone should support CoSA Foundation!
The CoSA Foundation is unique in school non-profit organizations. All our fundraising efforts go directly to keep a Conservatory School thriving in public school environment. The caliber of Conservatory Directors and their resumes rival any private school. Our program attracts students from diverse backgrounds, from all over San Diego County to audition for the program.
It's amazing to see the talent, dedication and professionalism embraced by the students as they grow into artists. Creativity is a vital part of educating the next generation - our efforts ensure that CoSA students graduate ahead of the curve and in many case redefine it!
This is an organization whose value becomes apparent with every musical, painting, film, dance, jazz concert, animated project and design.
Coronado School of the Arts is phenomenal, and I am so glad my son has the privilege of attending!! The people are very friendly and helpful. Everyone truly wants to help the kids get better opportunities and have a great life. I have had the privilege of meeting parents, and we have had lunch together during our lunch breaks. The Foundation is a great resource, and really works hard to make Coronado School of the Arts even better. Obviously, I'm biased because my son is in the Musical Theatre Department, but I must say that the plays are absolutely mind-blowing. The high school students act like professional actors, and the venue is state of the art. I'd recommend Coronado School of the Arts to anyone that has a high school student that wants to be involve din the arts.
Standing outside the Coronado School of the Arts at 4:30 pm on any given school day is a privilege. Teens who are full of energy come pouring out of their conservatories where they have just spent three hours focusing entirely on their artistic passions. Add to that the fact that the CoSA Foundation board includes people whose children graduated more than ten years ago but whose support for the programs is so strong they remain involved - how could one not want to get involved. The arts are very much alive and thriving in Coronado at these incredible preprofessional conservatories , and all high school students in San Diego County are eligible to apply for admission. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the CoSA Foundation, over 200 students are served every year.
When relocating to San Diego, I was desparate to find a good High School theatre arts program. I happened upon Coronado Shool of the Arts as part of my search. After a visit, we fell in love. The CoSA program is phenominal, and the CoSA Foundation is one of the main reasons. It helps significantly fund the CoSA program. The Foundation is made up of very caring parents and others in the community. It tirelessly tries to find new ways to enrich, fund and expand the CoSA program helping to ensure that the CoSA programs remian available to students in Coronado and throughout San Diego County. I've truly never met a group of people so pationate about the arts that stays behind the scene and lets the school and students shine.
The CoSA Foundation is made up of individuals who are completely dedicated to raising funds for this very special arts school as well as educating the community at large about the importance of providing an environment where high school students can pursue their passion with complete support.
Although not residents of Coronado, both my sons have attended the Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA). This school auditions and accepts students interested in pursuing their study of the arts from all over San Diego County. My oldest graduated two years ago and is now attending UCLA studying Sound Design. My youngest is currently a Junior in the Technical Theatre Department in CoSA. He is a lighting guy but dreams of being a doctor some day. I can't say enough about the CoSA experience for my boys. The skills they have learned in technical theatre, the team work experience of working together to tech a show, the character education that comes with being a member of this amazing artistic community. I volunteer as a Board Member for the CoSA Foundation as my way of saying "Thanks" for all that CoSA and Coronado High School have invested in my boys. Our CoSA Foundation is committed to providing the financial support necessary to keep this "School within a School" a viable option for all artistically talented students across San Diego County.
I have had the honor of volunteering with CoSA Foundation and have met its staff and students and have been truly impressed with their dedication. The foundation seems to go to endless stride to do all that is possible for the success of the school and children.
The CoSA Foundation raises money to help fund the Coronado School of the Arts - a "school within a school" located on the campus of Coronado High School. This program provides professional level training for high school students who are passionate about their art. This program provides a safe place for students who wish to pursue their art in a serious way and is a tremendous benefit to the entire San Diego community.
My children are quite creative and needed an outlet to express that. We found Coronado School of the Arts, had them audition, then jumped right in! I serve on the Foundation board to help in a tangible way so this program can continue for other children. Arts have been stripped away from so many schools but I believe they are crucial to the well rounded education our students so desperately need. I feel it has been a great investment of my time to serve this purpose.
