Causes: Environment, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection
Mission: To restore grasslands, wetlands, and native waterfowl to their natural state along with educating the community through its educational center and arboretum trail.
Programs: Ag programs - teach about the different varieties of fruitand nuts that are grown on a commercial level, showing thehistorical changes in agriculture within our county, andinforming people of the economic value of agriculture. We provide farmmaintenance, pruning, harvesting, workshops, and field days that allowfolks to get their hands dirty and work alongside our farmers in thenormal day to day tasks to maintain an operational farm.
nature programs - includes guided field days on native and invasive plant species, guided bird watching days where the many different species of bird and migratory waterfowl can be seen on the property, vernal pool viewing, and trails throughout the wetlands and uplands which are open to the public on a limited basis.
hunting program - we offer hunting opportunities on thenewly reconstructed wetlands and uplands on a limitedbasis for youth, females, and wounded warrior hunters. Ourhunting heritage must be passed down from generation to generation andwe believe that this opportunity will be an integral part in helpingeducate people the importance of maintaining the ability to continuehunting while recognizing the importance of wildlife as a whole.
our lavender farm was planted in the spring of 2013 and will consist of3 acres of "grosso lavender" which is a high oil producing lavenderwith other beneficial properties other than just oil. We will beproviding workshops on distilling essential oils, hand crafting soap,making soothing bath salts, and other fun projects.
