helen devos children's hospital congenital heart center - more than $6. 3 million of our $10 million initiative to help launch the helen devos children's hospital congenital heart center has been achieved to date. The center will broaden the hospital's pediatric heart care program and allow spectrum health to offer leading technology and complex procedures that help our physicians identify and repair heart defects more accurately.
child life programs support - funding to enhance the care and well being of children who stay at helen devos children's hospital. As part of the hospital team, our child life specialists support children and families throughout the experience. Certified child life specialists (ccls) combine play with education to explain medical procedures and provide therapeutic opportunities to explore the hospital environment. The programs work to minimize fear and stress experienced by children, teens and their families throughout their hospital experiences, as well as support the patient's emotional, social and cognitive growth.
