Causes: Chambers of Commerce & Business Leagues
Mission: The copper corridor economic development coalition fosters sustainable economic development which maintains the quality of life throughout the copper corridor region.
Programs: -a total of 15 workshops have been delivered throughout the copper corridor todate. -workshop topics include: starting your own business, using social media to marketyour business, marketing, customer service, startup business checklist. -consulted with 10 individuals this quarter. Topics included: marketing anon-profit, starting a new business, securing funding. -made presentations to the following organizations to publicize our services:superior chamber of commerce, oracle womens network, globe chamber of commerce,town of kearn. -adot and the town of winkelman, ccedc celebrated the installation of the penny for your thoughts sculpture in winkelman october 2014. In addition to participating at the best fest the mvc was present at the superiorhome and building tours, legends of superior eco-tourism fest and the 24th annual apache leap mining festival and was requested by globe-miami chamber for several of their events. -ccedc has taken the lead of organizing and promoting the river festivalin winkelman, az on april 25, 2015. Bird watching tours have been scheduled toaccommodate 3 groups during that morning. The festival will involve localvendors. -ccedc is also held a golf tournament on june 21, 2014. Thisevent is one of many fundraising events to assist any expenditures of the mvc. -ccedc has established a working relationship with the arizona trail association. The arizona trail and ccedc mvc are looking at ways to partner to promote the aztrail as well as the communities of the copper corridor. -project initiated as part of arizona commerce authority grant to create businesssuccess center. Fourth quarter expenses are expected for updating and expandingthe information compiled. The knowledge base (businesses and occupations) hascontinued to be updated and enhanced by the project consultant. Included now arelinks to socio-economic date per community; caag 2010 census per community; salestax state, county, city and total; and the start of broadband status in thecounty and communities. The updates are made available to county economicdevelopment professional tim kanavel as well as other interested parties seekingto aid the copper corridor. Links are offered through the bsc website. Theknowledge base will be a valued instrument during the launch of the arizona ruralbroadband project, known as digital arizona project. -the highlight of the 3rd quarter was signing the contract with the professionalaccounting firm of devries cpas of tucson. They have extensive experience andexpertise in accounting for nonprofit organizations and are maintaining ourcomplex financial records. -pinal county has funded the broadband study that is being supported by the ccedc.
