Mission: Credit counseling & education
Programs: Consumer credit counseling service, inc is a not-for-profit agency that promotes financial literacy through financial counseling and education within the state of kansas. In 2014, the cccs education department made a total of 374 presentations in 11 cities at 24 elementary, secondary and high schools, colleges, prisons, churches, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. These presentations were made to 7,161 individuals, 6,430 of those included low-income and youth populations. In addition, the agency conducted 2,403 counseling sessions to a total of 2,892 individuals conducted either in person or by telephone. The agency also administered 671 debt management plans that sent back over $2. 5 million dollars to creditors. The agency is a united way of the plains funded partner, regulated by the office of the state bank commissioner, a member of the national foundation of credit counseling, and owns an a+ rating by the better business bureau.
