Education and professional development - during 2017, the council supported programs and meetings for attendees focused on promoting and supporting effective philanthropy. These include programs and workshops on issues and trends in the field or of interest to funders as well as skill building sessions. The programs are delivered in locations around the state to ensure accessibility and networking for grantmakers throughout the state. The council currently supports three issue-focused groups on: early childhood, education and workforce. Fostering connections among grantmakers and others - the council provides opportunities for grantmakers with common roles or geography to come together to share knowledge and experience. The council supports and encourages the collective action of grantmakers to bolster the impact of their their grantmaking and also supports member collaboratives. The council actively manages its website which is a compendium of local and national resources, timely news and updates. The council represents the interests of its members at numerous meetings, both local and national. Leadership - the council is a leader in enhancing philanthropy in connecticut. It serves as an advocate for philanthropy by raising the visibility of its reach and impact withelected and appointed officials, the media and the general public in connecticut.
