Mission: Concordia publishing house exists for the purposes of strengthening and aiding member congregations in their proclamation of the gospel of our lord jesus christ and working in partnership with the agencies and congregations of the synod to provide publishing services.
Programs: Concordia publishing house (cph) is the publishing arm of the lutheran church missouri synod (lcms) and was organized in 1869 and is dedicated to spreading the gospel message of jesus christ throughout the world. As the publisher for the lutheran church-missouri synod, cph exists to serve the church, listen to congregations, respond to their needs, and provide biblical resources for today's ministry. Cph has more than 8,000 products that can be used by families and individuals, christian schools and congregations. The lcms is composed of over 6,000 congregations with a combined membership of more than 2,300,000 persons. Continued on schedule o. Page 2. The congregations and their members profess the same religious beliefs and have joined together in order to achieve certain religious objectives, which they could not achieve separately. The individual congregations of the synod carry on educational programs through a variety of facilities including approximately 4,900 sunday schools with 356,000 students, 3,700 weekday religion classes with 172,000 students, and 3,500 vacation bible schools with 248,000 students. During 2012, cph sold over 26,000 copies of the lutheran service book hymnal, 19,000 copies of the lutheran study bible, 15,000 copies of lutheranism 101, 47,000 copies of luther's small catechism with explanation, 5,000 copies of the apocrypha: the lutheran edition, and serviced over 248,000 children through vacation bible school resources and 712,000 subscribers to our daily devotional reading of portals of prayer.
