I love Concerned Citizens Animal Rescue. I've known Elizabeth for almost 5 years and O have to say she's an amazing, prolific recruiter that rescues Manny dogs that didn't stand a chance in the shelter, then funds them amazing homes. When I saw Baby Jacky's picture I was out of town at the time and had been missing my dog that got hit by a car less than a month ago. As soon as I saw those sweet eyes I knew I was meant to be her mom as she reminded me so much of my old dog. I was willing to put down 1/4 of the deposit just to secure her and Karen (her foster mom) and Elizabeth (the Rescue owner) both worked with me on the timeline since I was out of town at the time so I that I could adopt her a week later, understanding I felt strongly about adopting her and we all felt I was a good fit. She was already trained on the wee wee pads by the time I got her although skittish around strangers which is understandable given she had moved 5 houses in her young 3 month life. They were patient in explaining the 3-3-3 rule with me as I had been anxious seeing little Waffles be reactive towards strangers. The rule really works as she has been with me a week now is doing amazingly and she is not longer reactive to people. She has a wonderful temperament and is very bright and I'm super grateful for them that they worked with me so that I could adopt her and was reassuring when I was worried about her adjustment. They were communicative the whole time and I'm so thankful for their compassion and care. I couldn't be more in love with Waffles and I highly recommend CCAR for anyone that is looking to adopt!
We had an amazing adoption experience with Concerned Citizens Rescue. We met them at the Vegan Street Fair in Noho where my kids fell in love with Teddy. We put in an application and were so lucky to get matched. Elizabeth answered all my questions promptly, sent over the medical documents, neuter appointment scheduled, and so on to make everything easy. We could tell that Teddy was so loved by them and that they chose the home they felt Teddy would need, which was with another dog and kids. Elizabeth checked in after the adoption for support of how Teddy was doing. You can tell they love their dogs and they are supportive to their families. Teddy came to us with so much love, his food, treats, supplies and goodies. We love him so much and he’s the perfect fit for our family. I highly recommend this rescue based on the love and care they give their dogs and the support they give their families.
I contacted Concerned Citizens Animal Rescue about “Ben” a long haired chihuahua /Pomeranian mix who I had seen on Rescue Me website. His foster mom contacted me right away and was so informative and helpful and took the time to discuss over the phone everything about Ben. I wanted to adopt Ben but due to my father’s passing wouldn’t have been able to get to Southern California to pick him up for a couple weeks. His foster mom held him for me. Sent me updates everyday about Ben along with pictures and videos. I met Karen on Saturday and took Ben home. This organization gets more than five stars it should get 10 times that. These are absolutely wonderful people doing amazing things for these animals.
Elizabeth the founder is superb! She pours her entire heart into each individual case she works on. The adopters she finds fall madly in love with their new family member. Each animal is fully vetted before they’re adopted and just over all amazing people to work with. I’ve been able to help get some other dogs to adopters and each family has loved their new family member. The families have been amazing and committed to giving their new family member the best possible home
Elizabeth Regensberger Gonzalez runs Concerned Citizens Animal Rescue in Northern LA County. She does an incredible job in a challenging area of LA. People dump dogs constantly in our high desert areas and Elizabeth is there to help.
I’ve also read exchanges where she’s very kind to owners who can’t handle their dogs or who need help getting them treatment or placing them. Although I’ve never met Elizabeth, she seems to be a person who is very compassionate and respectful in all these situations. Sometimes it takes a diplomat.
Because I happen to live in the northern LA county area, my husband and I support her charity monthly in a small way because I know what a difficult job she’s doing.
Animal Rescue is a tough, tough business, particularly in Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties where too many animals are discarded like trash. I’m very thankful that Elizabeth is there to help them

What an amazing organization!!! From start to finish and beyond.
After locking eyes with an angel online, I immediately submitted my inquiry (it was late in the evening). I had a response in my inbox upon waking the next morning with a link to submit my application. The application process was extremely detailed and I truly appreciated how devoted the organization was to ensuring I was a qualified pet parent. Once it was believed that I was a great fit for Piper, arrangements were made for our meeting. Since I was several hundred miles away, the foster and the rescue suggested that they could meet me halfway instead of me having to make the full drive. I was blown away by their willingness and began planning for my new furever friend’s arrival.
From the start, there was excellent communication between myself and Elizabeth from the rescue, as well as with the Foster; to ensure that I purchased the same food she had been eating and knowing her current vaccination schedules. The meeting was fantastic and quite emotional! It was very clear to me that the organization cared most about how the dog responded to me and if she appeared to be receptive, comfortable, and excited to meet me. Luckily for me, Piper took to me immediately, with kisses and asking for belly tickles. We discussed all of her likes/dislikes, sleeping preferences, favorite toys/games, how to register her microchip, etc. Elizabeth also thoroughly went over her current health records and informed me of her upcoming vaccinations.
Additionally, since Piper is still a pup, she needs to be fixed and the rescue works with a clinic that covers the cost of spay/neuter surgery, or they will reimburse a portion of the procedure if it is performed elsewhere. On top of all of the excellent professional and administrative aspects of the adoption, I was also provided a huge goodie basket full of treats, bones, chews, and toys, as well as the harness and leash she was wearing (this was a gift from the Foster). There’s more! I was also given some fantastic online resources that included 30 days of virtual training, training discounts, and store coupons.
Overall, I would give Concerned Citizens Animal Rescue 10 stars if I could! Elizabeth has been fantastic from the start and months later we are still in regular contact, along with the Foster, and share updates (silly pics, videos, and stories) about Piper. This rescue truly cares about their pets and it shows in every step of their adoption process. Thank you Elizabeth and Concerned Citizens Animal Rescue for connecting me with Piper and loving her like your own until we met. You are all a part of my family now

We have fostered more than 30 dogs from CCAR in the past 2 years all of whom have found just the perfect furevers because of the effort that CCAR put into promoting and informing their community about the availability. We have have also volunteered at adoption events.

We are fosters for CCAR. They do not flinch during the bad times - they constantly promote good care for the dogs they have rescued, and those they want to. They provide just love and care (and veterinary services!) for all their rescues. Working with CCAR my partner and I have successfully found loving homes for 18 gorgeous rescues. All of whom had tails to tell. All of whom are now living their best lives.

I had a great experience donating towards the care of a dog who had been rescued by CCAR. I am so impressed at how they rescued her from a terrible situation, got her healthy and found a wonderful home for her. I would definitely adopt from them, as well.
My family and I were looking for a new member of the family after our dog of 15 years passed away. We had never adopted from a rescue before but Elizabeth and the foster family made this such an easy process from the application, to the meet n greet, and after the adoption itself. Teddy is so wonderful and we consider ourselves to be incredibly lucky to have him. We would highly recommend this rescue to anyone looking to adopt.

Hello my name is Anjelica and I had abopted Lola (4 year old German shepherd) in August and she’s is the best dog ever but that’s just my opinion :) her story was that her previous owners had left her out side and didn’t feed her often so she was under weight for a German shepherd her age but now she sleeps in my bed or in her dog bed where ever she wants basically just not the couch and she gets along with her sister snowball (7 month old husky) really well and she teaches a lot of things the people at the shelter were very informative and were very helpful with everything even regarding her medical stuff and behavioral stuff I am very thankful for them
I Met Elizabeth from Concerned Citizens Rescue this past weekend at the Sherman Oaks Street Fair. Everyone at CCRI is so friendly and it’s so obvious they care about these animals and you can see the joy on their faces every time they find a home for one of their animals. They are genuinely doing good for these animals and the families that adopt them.
Couldn’t have had a better experience! Wandered down to the Ventura Blvd street fair in Sherman Oaks definitely not expecting to start the process of finding my cat a forever best friend right then and there! I’ve recently moved out with my cat of a household with animals, I noticed she began to seem a little lonely but didn’t know if it was time or if the solution was getting her a kitten. On the closest part of the fair to us was a huge booth of adoptions, obvi we gotta check them out. We saw the cutest little brother and sister kittens but i unfortunately I can only get one friend for my cat and not two. They ended up being able to find a perfect home together but now that we were so into the idea of getting my cat a bestie right then and there we had to just do it! Elizabeth was running a section of the booth ( had the two siblings who get adopted as well) could tell we were super eager to adopt one asap. She told us no doubt about it I can get you a kitten asap and duh that’s an automatic yes please! She really got us the most special little girl. It only took one picture to make me fall just fully in love with (then) Toby, ( now) Bonnie. Elizabeth made the whole process so easy and simply went above and beyond. I assumed she lived in Ramona with Bonnie but turns out she lives at least in Santa Clarita! She drove easily over 6 hours one day and another 3 at least yesterday all out of her own heart and pocket just for us and our little girl. The amount of care and love you can feel Elizabeth put into these kittens is just incredible. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience. Bonnie is just a ball of love and joy, flip flopping all around the place running around in circles. I did not know think that she would feel so at home so fast but she fit right in. Of course it’s going to be a process for my cat and the new baby here so not too sure how they act yet, we shall see after acclimating! So far Bonnie is out of this world so much more then I expected and was ready for. Truly a blessing
A friend advertised they were fostering some adorable puppies. When I heard the story that the mother and her puppies were at a high kill shelter and were saved by concerned citizens animal rescue, it pulled at my heart strings. I became a first time dog owner by adopting my beautiful pitbull/boxer, Meeko. A year later I wanted to help more and I’m now fostering a gorgeous Shepard mix, Lolli. She was found by Elizabeth, who runs the nonprofit concerned animals rescue, wondering the desert on a 114 degree day. She was lactating and her puppies were nowhere to be found. We took her in and she is thriving with us and waiting for her forever home. I can now happily say that I’m a dog person!
This is the best animal rescue in Southern California, if not the entire state! The diligent care and enormous amount of loving energy they put into every animal they rescue and care for is astounding.
I adopted three month old puppies Ava and Clover (formerly Delilah) from concerned citizens rescue on August 14th. Karen their foster is the absolute sweetest, kindest human. She took such great care of the babies. We of course fell in love at first sight. We decided to adopt them and Elizabeth the owner of the rescue and I spoke on the phone and began the adoption process. Previous to that day I sent her photos of my house and yard so she knew the puppies would be safe. We took them home that day and are in love with them. We are so grateful to concerned citizens for their mission in rescuing and rehoming needy animals everyday. They are a very professional organization and highly recommend them. ♡

AFTER FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION AND SPEAKING TO ELIZABETH WE WERE APPROVED TO ADOPT THE GIRLS. ELIZABETH AND KAREN MADE THE PROCESS SEAMLESS AND EASY. This is a fantastic rescue organization. The owner has such a huge heart and so much integrity, you just can't go wrong. I have seen many examples where she goes above and beyond because she cares. If you are looking for your next family member, I highly recommend that you check out the animals available at this rescue.
We recently adopted a kitten from this organization, and it has been an incredibly positive experience. Our furry baby is loving, wonderful, making a great addition to our family. The organization itself does outstanding work with animals, ensuring their well-being and finding them loving homes. My adoption experience was smooth and pleasant, making the whole process stress-free. I highly recommend this organization to anyone looking to adopt a furry friend. 13/10 would recommend.
Amazing experience! We were able to adopt two Jindo puppy sisters because Elizabeth rescued the mom and her little from a high kill shelter. My in laws took one sister, and we took the other. They have been incredible dogs, and the rescue process was simple and straightforward. A wonderful nonprofit! Elizabeth is the real deal- her family gives everything to the dogs they rescue. :)

This is seriously an absolutely WONDERFUL Animal Rescue organization. The care that Elizabeth, Scott and the volunteers give to the animals they rescue, beginning with the rescue, to housing them, to getting them to the vet to make sure they are healthy and neutered, to the adoption events to a final adoption, such care and out and out love is poured out to the animals to make sure they are safe and get the very best life with the very best adoptive parents. THIS is the organization to adopt from and certainly donate your money to. It literally is ALL about the animals. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Small but Mighty. CCAR is a remarkable rescue run with so much heart. They saved our dog Bonnie, then gave her a place to give birth and nurse her 10 puppies for 3 months! Not only did they find homes for all of her puppies, but after all of that Bonnie was ready for a really good home and we were ready for a really great dog - and CCAR made all of our wishes come true! We are so grateful! We highly recommend CCAR!
I have donated to their rescue because they pull the dogs that are going to be euthanized. They help the under dogs literally and in my opinion this rescue is selfless. I highly recommend them and support their life saving work.

Especially when all the people who wanted to adopt a dog during covid decides to return them after a year because of whatever reason. CCAR, of course takes them back, and then finds them another home. Animal Rescue is hard; emotionally and financially. And physically trying and time consuming, but no complaints. Concerned Citizens is thorough with assessing where the dogs are emotionally and physically, as well as finding out as much of their histories as they can. They generously provide for their medical needs as well as their recreation. They are truly dedicated to finding forever homes while providing as much love as possible in the meantime!

From the moment I found Concerned citizens Animal Rescue via pet finder, they were extremely helpful. They were very responsive and gave adequate and helpful information on their website even prior to meeting our pup. They communicated clearly via text as to what was needed before adopting and that was very helpful. On the day of meeting our pup, we met Elizabeth and knew we had picked the right place to adopt the new member of the family. Elizabeth has kept in touch checking in on Beanie, which we really appreciate. If our family ever wants to adopt again we will definitely be using Concerned Citizens Animal Rescue again.

It's been a long time before I've come across a wonderful rescue group that really worries about the Forgotten dog in the shelter and goes the extra mile. They don't just care about the cutesy little dogs that everyone wants but they really worry about all that are in need. I fostered for them for a little while until I became a foster fail with Wiley. Any help either through donations of fostering would be well worth your time and effort.
