Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Children & Youth, Community & Neighborhood Development, Economic Development, Youth Community Service Clubs, Youth Development, Youth Development Programs
Mission: Our mission at the ‘Vibes Garage,’ is to create a positive impact in the communities of Ventura County. Our vision includes creating a shop where youth and those struggling with the cost of basic auto maintenance are provided support and guidance so that they have functioning skills in basic auto mechanics and/or reliable transportation.
Results: Historically, up to 7 youth ages 12-13 have been the primary active age within our programs; simply due to pilot methods with a controlled audience over the past couple of years. Presently, the program participation has expanded to include those at local high schools. Current programs will be collaborating directly with site locations where the age is modified to 14-18 year olds, due to accessibility for students. We have been gifted two project vehicles for the youth to work on; and confirmed collaborative initiatives with local schools.
Target demographics: Develop youth and support community members
Direct beneficiaries per year: 5 youth were impacted by our efforts last year; our PWYC program is new in 2023.
Geographic areas served: Ventura County Communities
Programs: Mechanic Vibes 101: school parking lot auto workshops for youth ages 15-19. Pay What You Can Program for community members needing basic maintenance for their vehicles.
