Community Sailing of Colorado, or CSC as it is popularly referred to, was established in 1995 on Standley Lake in Westminster, Colorado as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The organization was developed by Steven Frank, who recognized the need for a well organized program to promote and educate kids in the Denver area through sailing. Community Sailing of Colorado operates a Youth Summer Sailing Program for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 17 inside the Cherry Creek and Boulder Reservoirs. CSC hosts week-long Learn To Sail Camps, Intermediate Camps, Advanced Camps, Adult Classes and a Summer Drop-In Sailing Program that allows access to sailing after they learn how to sail. CSC’s summer sailing program operates Monday through Friday during the months of June, July and August. Camps are conducted on the Cherry Creek Reservoir in Greenwood Village, Colorado and the Boulder Reservoir. Youngsters learn basic sailing on Optimists, Prams and Pico’s. Youngsters earn advanced sailing privileges as they earn ratings. With each successive rating Junior sailors can progressively earn the privilege to sail more complex boats, learn racing, sail further from the sailing beaches and help teach others to sail.
