Mission: The mission of the community land trust association of west marin is to provide stable and permanently affordable housing in an environmentally responsible way in the communities surrounding tomales bay. As a community land trust, clam holds land and housing in trust for the community in perpetuity while creating housing that working people can afford.
Programs: In 2016, clam worked in partnership with marin community foundation, the county of marin, and the stinson beach community to acquire ocean terrace apartments, an eight-unit apartment complex in stinson beach. This prevented the displacement of 7 long time residents and created the first affordable housing in stinson beach.
in 2016, clam provided ongoing property management and resident support to our four properties and nine households. This includes ocean terrace property management once that property was acquired in october 2016.
in order to create and steward affordable homes in the communities surrounding tomales bay, in 2016 clam worked toward county-wide affordable housing policy that would remove obstacles to the creation of affordable homes. In addition, clam established a program that supports local land owners to create affordable rentals on their properties, rentals monitored by clam for ongoing affordability. Creating ongoing affordable rentals in existing housing is a key strategy in the high-cost acquisition and building context of west marin.
