The Community Education Foundation does a great job supporting the curriculum in the classrooms through multiple grants. They also provide community functions as their fund raisers. This year the group gave out gift cards to every classroom teacher to use on classroom supplies. Truly an exceptional group of dedicated, hard working, selfless individuals.
As a former teacher, I have really enjoyed being involved with CEF because it has allowed me to stay connected with the school district that I spent so many years teaching for. It has also provided me with the opportunity to be a part of a great organization that recognizes and rewards the outstanding efforts of committed teachers with classroom grants. To be able to provide teachers with the tools that give wings to their ideas and allow them to present lessons to their students in such a way as to leave an indelible mark on them is truly priceless. In addition, the fundraisers have helped us to provide all of our teachers with a token of our esteem and appreciation. I hope above everything else, the one main thing that we achieve is to ensure that each teacher at Community ISD realizes that they are valued and their full worth is recognized.
I work at the Middle School and have always noticed the CISD Education Foundation involvement in the District. They help techers in having the opportunity to apply for Grants. It's two-fold, helps the Teacher and the students.
I worked in the middle school for several years and was impressed with CISD Education Foundation's involvement with our schools. They make sure teachers have opportunity to apply for grants for their classrooms. The student's benefit from the grants and get to work with some really cool equipment and other learning tools.
They provide supplies for teachers, grants to help teachers provide for students, food for special events, dances to bring dads and daughters together, and other events that provide for the community.
I am a teacher at Community High School who has benefited from the grants that the Education Foundation has for teachers. If not for these grants my students would not have been able to create something that allowed them to see space. They would not have created rockets and drones. This Foundation is wonderful.
This foundation provided a material that enabled my students to have fun while learning the concepts of Chemistry which are abstract. The grant I got from the foundation was used in purchasing Collisions Software on chemistry games for all the Chemistry students in the school. With the software, I was able to easily integrate technology into my lessons and create an atmosphere that engaged students in healthy competition as well as cooperative learning because those that reach the highest levels of the game help others that are stuck at the lower levels.
