I have had several roles with Community Housing of Wyandotte County (CHWC) in executive leadership and volunteer board capacities. Twenty years (and counting!) as a neighborhood leader, public advocate, and a current member of the board of directors is a long time devotion to any cause. I have witnessed firsthand in my own neighborhood of St. Peter's/Waterway how CHWC has worked effectively through strategic partnership with the public and private sectors. CHWC has been the catalyst that transformed my neighborhood into a vibrant and safe place to live.
CHWC's mission is to revitalize, stabilize and reinvest in Kansas City, Kansas neighborhoods through new and improved housing, home-buyer education and financial counseling, as well as community building and engagement initiatives; all of which improve the quality of life for the residents of Kansas City, Kansas. You know the old saying 'it takes a village,' well that's the thought that comes to mind when I think of the families, communities and CHWC's loyal band of supporters who are revitalizing the urban core. I support CHWC because of the amazing work they do to make my hometown a great place to live, work and play.
