Causes: Community Foundations, Philanthropy
Mission: Philanthropy is our only business. The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa''s mission is to respond to the current and future charitable needs of the Greater Cedar Valley Area and Northeast Iowa, to secure and serve as the custodian of endowment funds contributed by many donors, and to create other mechanisms which will channel charitable money, goods, and services to meet community needs.
We believe that we must protect, nurture, and nourish the uniqueness of the Greater Cedar Valley Area-the diversity of its race and culture, the richness of its artistic expression and appreciation, and the beauty and quality of its natural resources-so that all may enjoy the quality of life both now and in perpetuity. We are committed to human and community development, wise and thoughtful distribution of the resources entrusted in us, and prudent investment of the funds entrusted to us. We serve as a neutral, nonpartisan third party convener to examine and determine community needs and facilitate development of solutions to community problems.
Results: Help donors connect to the causes they care about by establishing permanant funds with income going to interest areas or particular of the donor in the donor's name. Professional staff ensure that grants are going in the donor's name to well run organizations meeting the needs of the geograpic area.

Programs: The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa connects donors with charitable projects in need of support. With the help of knowledgeable staff, donors' intents are met with grants that cover the broad needs of the Foundation's service area. Grant criteria allows for grants to be made to support the arts and humanities, community affairs and development, education, environmental protection, health, historic preservation, and human services. Discretionary grants are made to 501(c)(3) organizations in Black Hawk County and other areas of Northeast Iowa for which donors have established funds.
