Causes: Community Coalitions
Mission: The community design center of pittsburgh (cdcp) improves the quality of life through good design of the built environment. The cdcp offers design assistance in the form of grants, technical assistance and education through three programs: design fund, renplan, and civic stewardship, and three events: pedal pittsburgh, design excellence lecture series, and pittsburgh design fair for house and garden.
Programs: Design fund - offers grants and techinical assistance to help organizations purchase and effectively use architectural and planning services.
design allies - education, advocacy and technical assistance to encourage awareness of the built environment - buildings, neighborhoods, parks and public spaces - and its critical contributions to public life. Educational resources such as websites, workshops and presentations help people understand and negotiate design issues and processes.
design consults - provides educational materials, renovation resources and low-cost consultations to homeowners planning improvements. By expanding their understanding of options, the program helps people make investments that add value to their homes and neighborhoods.
