Causes: Community & Neighborhood Development, Economic Development
Mission: Membership consists of clergy from all churches, representatives from all organizations and any others who are interested in this work. At thanksgiving and christmas, approximately 200-225 baskets are distributed. The community council purchases all poultry and extra food needed to fill the baskets. Also at christmas, the council purchases toys or articles of clothing for each child in the family. All through the year, the council assists people in temporary distress who do not qualify or are reluctant to ask for public assistance. The greatest needs are fuel, utilities, prescriptions and emergency food. Also, sick room equipment is available to all residents of the town, without cost. If people are unable to transport these articles, such as hospital beds, etc. , arrangements are made for their delivery.
Programs: Financial support to people who, due to their financial position or other circumstances, are unable to pay their bills.
