I have worked with Community Compassion Outreach for about a year and it has been life-changing. I don't have tons of time or money but most Saturdays I get together with some CCO folks at the park and we bring food and donated necessities to homeless and hungry folks in our town. I have met some amazing people and added a great part to my weekend. It is wonderful to be a part of such a great community, and I never would have met and gotten to know the folks without homes, who are wonderful people.
In the 20+ years I've been involved with affordable housing and relieving homelessness, Community Compassion Outreach is the leading organization in addressing these needs. No other group has the outreach and connection with the service population, and is better positioned to deliver needed services and ultimately the permanent supportive housing than CCO.
Thank Dan for you review! We appreciate your support.
My story with this Community Compassion Outreach began at the forum in 2018 titled Ending Homelessness, why we haven't, how we can (something like that). I became aware of the many things "home" means and what it is like not to have one. I realized that it is not most important " why "someone is home-less but that everyone "needs" a place to call home, a place to feel safe, a place to heal, a place to keep their stuff, a place to be who they are, a place to socialize, a place to eat, a place to be human - to be part of community. I wanted to become a part of something that wanted to bring "home" to those who didn't have one.
Johnie, your confidence and support of Community Compassion Outreach is greatly appreciated. Your support keeps us going.
CCO has been been doing an outstanding job of serving the needs of the homeless community in Durango by providing critical survival supplies, helping with work programs, and spearheading truly affordable and and long-term housing initiatives in La Plata County. This is an organization worth getting behind!
Thank you, Jon, for your review! Great having your support of CCOHome.
The Board of Directors and many volunteers have been very active in all the programs of this nonprofit organization. CCO has built strong relationships with the homeless and their collaboration has resulted in helping them navigate resources. Working with local officials toward solutions have helped to create the political will for improved attitudes from the community. Thank you, supporters, for believing in the work we do!
Nonprofit serves the Durango community by assisting people to survive and exit homelessness. The ¨Coffee and Conversations¨ program provides meals, clothing, and fellowship each Saturday. Day Work program connects those seeking employment with jobs. CCO is collaborating with community partners to construct affordable housing with local support services on site - a Village of Hope. Wonderful people and essential work.
Darren, it’s great working with you to support the homeless we serve! Thank you and your family for your review.
