I got involved with CENOHA (Comite d'Entente du Nord-Ouest d'Haiti) after the terrible earthquake of 2010. They were in search of a solution to the vast influx of earthquake victims in search of shelter and basic needs to the North West. My company, then IGCplus (International Group Consultants), expert in disaster response, was already in Haiti volunteering services in partnership with a few international ONGs. We presented them with a reconstruction plan to help the new comers while upgrading their land with better agriculture, health and agro-business.
I was amazed at how quickly they were able to invite over 40 ONGs to participate and was able to witness the great love they all have for their country. Everyone had a plan to develop their land. Some wanted to even donate land to build new cities, schools, hospitals, etc. Their enthusiam is unsurpassed and still holds true today despite the difficulty in finding funding for their projects.
