Booking a day/time to volunteer was easy online and buying items to donate in advance and then packing items for foster children was a perfect way to introduce my young children to volunteerism. I always recommend Comfort Cases to organizations as a great team-building activity that has a positive impact.
I have seen the growth of Comfort Cases since it started and the commitment to children in foster care and passion to help has not diminished. So happy this organization continues to focus on the well being of children. I am happy to be able to help Comfort Cases continue to spread love in this way.
Comfort Cases is an incredible organization that supports Foster children and youth of all ages throughout the country. Comfort Cases is a fantastic charity focused on serving children and youth in Foster Care along with providing scholarship money to young adults attending higher education. It's well run, well organized, supports socical service agencies and their needs, and has a culture where everyone wants to help.
Comfort Cases is an incredible organization that brings dignity, love, and hope to foster youth. The backpacks they provide—filled with essential and personal items—ensure that children no longer have to carry their few belongings in a black trash bag when transitioning between homes. The impact of this simple yet powerful gesture is truly life-changing. Rob and Reese, the inspiring founders, have created something remarkable, and I am honored to be a part of their mission. The love and support Comfort Cases provides with each backpack make a world of difference for these children.
Comfort Cases have played an integral part in our ability to welcome older youth into the homes of new foster parents. Their acknowledgement of the needs of this specific demographic is astounding. Those growing up in the system always need comfort. Thank you Comfort Cases.
Comfort Cases has changed the lives of so many kids in my community. Each child that receives a bag feels so happy, safe and welcomed into their foster homes. The smiles and hugs we get are priceless in making these kids feel like they still matter when going through a tough transition.
I have been volunteering here for 8 years. What they do for kids going into foster care is amazing I donate frequently as well
I have been working with Comfort Cases for the past three years! The teams level of professionalism, organization, compassion and care is unmatched. Rob is an absolute pleasure to work with and very compassionate in not only Foster Care but trauma filled families and children are his passion. I love working with the team and look forward to sponsoring more packing party events.
I have known the founder for 3 years, in this short span of time I have seen this organization expand its volume of youth in foster care served, its impact in new cities and states, the partnerships with brands it has secured from Target to Elevance and AmeriGroup health insurance. The volunteers who have stepped forward and become such a huge part of the organization is a true testament to the organization's capabilities to touch the hearts of individuals far and wide. I am proud to be an advisor and someone with a view behind the curtain.

When an individual who was in foster care himself, then homeless, then onto the military and into a successful banking career, leaves the for profit sector to start an organization that sets its mission on eliminating trash bags for all youth in foster care, that is a man i want to know. That is inspiration because he lived and walked, the very dream he had to do better for himself and give back to his own community to bring change. He is doing just that.
I have had the absolute pleasure of partnering with Comfort Cases over the past several years. This organization and its founder, Rob Scheer are true agents of change. Rob uses his life experience to make a positive impact on so many lives. Not only does he bring dignity and hope to children and teens in foster care through the packing and distribution of Comfort Cases, backpacks filled with new pajamas, blankets, hygiene items, activities, books and stuffed animals, but he has an innate ability to inspire entire communities to support this meaningful work. As he shares during events where the Comfort Cases are assembled by volunteers, he has experienced so much adversity in his life. His story of how that adversity propels him to ensure the mission of “No More Trash Bags” within the Foster Care System is not only met but becomes a social call to action to make a positive impact on every child entering the Foster Care System, is truly inspiring.
My family has been proud to volunteer and donate to Comfort Cases for years. My kids have done donation drives at their schools and we've participated in packing parties. I've also had the opportunity to talk to professionals in the field of foster care who have shared stories of the positive impact that Comfort Cases have for kids who receive them. The work that Comfort Cases does to bring dignity and give a voice to children in foster care is so important.
What an incredible nonprofit! My experience with this organization has been nothing but positive and I encourage everyone to spread the word. Can't recommend Comfort Cases enough!
I've personally witnessed the good that Comfort Cases does for the community - and by community, I mean the world. They've brought smiles to social service agencies and those served by them, by their donations of the comfort cases - filled with essential items for kids who would generally not have access to them!

Comfort Cases is an amazing nonprofit doing very important work supporting some of the most vulnerable among us, children in foster care. I have first hand seen the impact of a child receiving a Comfort Case and the profound positive effect it has on their feelings of self worth and love. No child deserves being handed a trash bag to start their journey and Comfort Cases is working to end that practice!
Absolutely amazing organization to volunteer and support!
The work comfort cases does provides hope and real impact. Working with them has been so meaningful and I can't recommend them with more regard.
I've visited the NEW Comfort Cases National Center and was greeted with love and compassion! I highly recommend volunteering!
This is the best non-profit! Bringing dignity and hope to children in foster care!

Rob and the Comfort Cases team continuously does everything they can to help bring hope to the children experiencing foster care all over the world!
Every time I hear a story Of a child coming into foster care I will never forget the trash bag. I’m so lucky we have organizations like Comfort Cases to not only give hope and dignity, but also making sure that laws are changing in states.
I had the great privilege of meeting the founder of Comfort Cases, at the Tenth Anniversary Gala Celebration.
Having read his personal story and learning about his dedication to his mission, my heart was captured. I have become a part of this wonderful mission.
I volunteered at Comfort Cases INC along with my co-workers. This is an amazing charity that is able to help out thousands of kids who need it. I love the concept of "DIGNITY" for these foster kids. The place was very organized and staff was super helpful and friendly:)

Comfort Cases is a wonderful place to volunteer. They are organized, friendly, and completely committed to making a difference in the lives of children. I am honored to be a part of their volunteer team.
My children volunteered for this charity since it started, it was a great experience for them and we learned so much about foster care. This is a place I refer anyone to when they need a place to volunteer or to donate, it is a great organization that truly cares.
Comfort Cases is a valued and much needed resource in a world where we all need to feel support, compassion and love. Comfort Cases provides the basic needs we all take for granted. Comfort Cases is family.
Comfort Cases is a wonderfully inclusive organization. It welcomes volunteers of all ages. I have been at their national center in Rockville, where schools, corporations, faith-based programs, girl/boyscouts,camps, and other nonprofits volunteer their time. My family first became involved in Comfort Cases 8 years ago when my son needed to lead a social justice project for his mitzvah project. Since then Comfort Cases has become much more to my family then we could have only imagined. My children volunteer on a regular basis, they have gained a knowledge and understanding of the needs of our youth who are experiencing foster care. Volunteers transform everyday backpacks into comfort cases, these cases full of essential items, which provide much needed dignity, hope and love to our most vulnerable youth as they transition into the foster care system.
I have been volunteering with and for Comfort Cases for more than five years. Most of my work happens in the state of Maine, although I have helped with outreach throughout the United States. Working with this organization, its founder, Rob Scheer, and the entire staff always makes me feel proud and honored to be part of this team. More importantly, because of my connection with Comfort Cases, I have positively touched the lives of many deserving children as they transition into foster care.
From the rudimentary shed on our property in Maine, good humans of all ages come to bring donations of contents for the Cases. Then they sort goods, bag toiletries, tie ribbons on pjs and blankets, and then pack and label Comfort Cases. Still other neighbors deliver these Cases to the organizations that will distribute them to the children. With the help, kindness, and generosity of local banks, supermarkets, churches, Rotary Clubs, retailers, the Elks and Moose Lodges, hair dressers, car dealerships, radio and TV stations, quilters, and so many caring individuals, we have packed almost 5000 Comfort Cases. This is a community effort from start to finish that would never have happened without the inspiration of Rob Scheer and local foster parents. I have seen children receive Comfort Cases. It is a game changer for them to have these brand new items, because it is a clear indication that someone cares about their well being. It’s ever so much better than a trash bag. As long as there are children in need, we will keep right on packing.
Comfort Cases has provided so many children throughout the foster care system with comfort and hygiene items for over 10 years now. They are an amazing organization which helps the most vulnerable children nationally. A great organization and a great mission! I love volunteering there!
Comfort Cases is a great organization that helps kids in foster care by providing backpacks filled with essential items as these kids transition to new foster homes. Beyond the value of the items provided, the organization sends the message to these kids that they are special, important and cared for. Receiving Comfort Cases provides a mental and emotional boost to these kids as they are going through a very difficult time in their lives. Comfort Cases also produces a very interesting and informative podcast that sheds light on issues affecting kids in foster care.
I have been volunteering at Comfort Cases for two years and am always amazed by their staff. This organization is so well organized that they make it very easy to volunteer and accomplish so much in a small amount of time.
Comfort Cases brings a lot of smiles to the faces of children who are going through a very hard time in their life.
I work for Hillside Children's Center. I ordered some of the Comfort Cases and when they arrived I truly couldn't believe how awesome they are. They were just packed with goodies that are both practical and also fun and nurturing. When my staff saw them the could not believe that these were all donated items and they are super-excited about distributing them to youth who are badly in need.
I can not thank Comfort Cases enough--truly!
I am a foster care survivor, and I received a donated backpack (I don’t know the exact origin) when I was placed in emergency care. I was petrified of the unknown and that backpack is still imprinted in my mind years later, it absolutely changed my life forever. I have never forgotten that feeling of attachment to that bag and feeling like it was my lifeline and my only safe space. The stranger that packed it knew I (a foster kid) existed and they cared enough about me to help without recognition or thanks, without knowing me, it made me feel worthy when my family had rejected me. It was ALL I had besides clothes on my back. I have made it my life’s work to pay forward that generosity every chance I can knowing what a difference it made to me. These cases bring hope and change, and I can’t say enough good things about what Comfort Cases is doing, the impact is SO much bigger than backpacks.
Just that they are responding to a need NO ONE was trying to solve for. I make sure to donate and make sure try company matches. I wish Comfort Cases even more success as the years go on. They are doing an excellent and necessary work.
Comfort Cases has provided backpacks and duffel bags for young adults aging out of foster care in our community. Each one who received a bag had a huge smile on their face and were so thankful. Thank you for being a change maker and for creating positive impact in communities all over the US!!!
For the last ten years, my family has been volunteering and donating to Comfort Cases. Every time we come to the national center we have been so overwhelmed with the love and support that they are giving to kids in care.
They are an amazing organization bringing dignity and hope to children entering the foster care system nationally.
Comfort Cases is an amazing organization. I've had the pleasure of volunteering for over 5 years and am impressed day in and day out by the hard working staff and volunteer network. Comfort Cases embodies teamwork and dedication to help our foster care youth feel valued and supported.
To say that Rob Scheer lives the mission of Comfort Cases would be an understatement. Treating foster children with dignity is his life’s mission and he supports at-risk youth with passion, compassion and dedication. Comfort Cases provides back packs of essentials and Comfort XL duffel bags so that foster children can carry their belongings with dignity and have personal items they can call their own. This is an AMAZING organization run by an equally amazing man who has lived through foster care and has devoted his life to making things better for kids that truly deserve it including the 5 foster children he and his husband have adopted. Rob tells the story of these kids and has made it his life’s passion to do something to address the mis-treatment of children that deserve better. Give to this organization to truly make a difference! Jackie M.
Having worked in the foster care sector for the past 16 years, there is no question that Comfort Cases and its dedicated staff and volunteers care about our most vulnerable youth. Their hearts are big; their mission is real; and I am so appreciative of the work they do to ensure that foster kids across the country know that they matter, and that they are not forgotten.
I just recently had the chance to both tour the comfort cases offices and warehouse, and spend time with the founder Rob Scheer. I was absolutely blown away by this volunteer led organization. All hands on deck seems to serious for the playful and loving atmosphere we witnessed. Everyone was working for free, with a smile and story to tell about how they came to the comfort cases team.
The care woth which the team packs brand new bags for children living outside of family care is astonishing. EVERYTHING is brand new and holds deep purpose, from the pajamas, to the books, blankets, toiletries and other items. The Comfort cases staff was knowledgeable, welcoming and absolutely sold out for the vision of loving kids!
I came from a 10+ year non profit org career, and this team is one of the most reliable and capable groups of new friends i have had the privilege to meet and learn from.
I couldn’t give a sixth star so I’ll give it here. My rating of this Non Profit: 6 stars ;)
This organization really warmed my heart. I remember the first time I met with staff and Robert Scheer. Their passion and commitment to make sure these children felt like someone truly cared made me emotional inside. I never knew what children went through when they entered into the foster care system but when they explained the process, of how thier stuff is just placed in plastic bags as it was trash. It broke me. Children should never have to go through this and these comfort case are needed to help them through this traumatic experience.
Thank you to Rob and staff for all you guys do!
I wholeheartedly believe in the mission of Comfort Cases. Rob is a friend and his his heart is as big as the state of Texas. Rob and the rest of the CC team are doing incredible, life-changing work.
As a woman going into the public school system as an educator I am deeply passionate about children. I value what Comfort Cases do for children across the country.
Comfort Cases and its founder touched my heart the first day I learned about their mission and their work. Today, three years later, it is my non-profit of choice. While Comfort Cases is headquartered in Maryland, most of my work takes place in Maine and Florida where I now live. From our small shed in Maine with the support of our community including churches, banks, supermarkets, car dealerships, the police department, women's clubs, individual children, and neighbors, we have packed and delivered more than 1500 Comfort Cases to local agencies throughout the state of Maine. I've seen the joy on children's faces when they receive a Comfort Case and learn that the brand new contents are for them to keep as their own. It touches my heart every time and increased my dedication to packing Comfort Cases. I'm am inspired daily not only by the work that is done by Comfort Cases but also by the way the work is done. We all strive to be good humans every day and do what we do with kindness towards others. I'm so proud to be associated with everyone at Comfort Cases.
I initially found out about Comfort Cases when a friend invited me to a backpack building gathering at a local church. Rob spoke at that meeting and there wasn't a dry eye in the place - we were letting our children down. Kids in foster care carried garbage bags with their belongings and, in many cases, didn't even have necessary or meaningful belongings.
Comfort Cases provides filled backpacks and duffle bags to kids in foster care. The organization is meaningful, has local roots yet helps kids across the nation!
I began volunteering for Comfort Cases 5 years ago, when my son needed a Mitzvah project. As an adoptee who spent the first few months of life in foster care, this organization spoke volumes to my family. We have remained active particpants ensuring no child ever has to carry their belongings in a trash bag. Kids helping kids builds a stronger more compassionate future for us all.
I learned about Comfort Cases when they were doing a pajama drive in the lobby at a local community theatre. I wasn’t aware of any other charity assisting children entering foster care. I think children in care are often a “forgotten” population. It seemed like such a worthwhile cause - I’ve been volunteering there for several years now.
Comfort Cases attempts to bring dignity back to these children by providing them with a duffel bag for their belongings instead of a trash bag which is often used. Each child also receives a Comfort Case which is a new backpack filled with a blanket, pajamas & socks, a toiletry & dental kit, a book and stuffed animal. Younger children receive a coloring book w/ crayons while older ones get a journal & writing implements.
I started volunteering for Comfort Cases about 2 years ago after I saw their founder on the Ellen Show. I absolutely love this organization and everything they do for kids in foster care. Not only do they provide essential items, but they work tirelessly as advocates to improve the lives of these vulnerable children.
I met Comfort Cases' Founder, Rob Scheer, in 2012. We spoke about the demoralizing practice of social workers handing children trash bags to gather and carry their belongings in as they are traumatically entering the foster care system. Today, his organization which started in 2013 has distributed over 100,000 Comfort Cases to children and youth and he is living his life to ensure that NO child has to identify their worth that way. I have been to many packing parties and events over the years. They treat their staff and volunteers like angels. LOVE this organization!!!
Comfort Cases is one of the most beneficial non profits out there! Constantly they work toward giving back to those in the foster community, really changing many lives in the system.
