Flat out...these men and women have huge hearts. They are a family-oriented association who, as Veterans themselves, work tirelessly to care for Veterans in need and other nonprofits who work with, and for, our Veterans. There are multiple chapters throughout the state and nation as well. And while each may run a little differently, their focus is the same: Vets helping Vets, supporting one another, and conducting themselves in a standup manner.
in 2016 Hogs For Heroes, our small WI nonprofit, was just getting started. We gift Harleys to injured Veteran riders in an effort to help them heal by regaining the benefits of motorcycling, so our ties with their organization seem a natural fit. CVMA 45-1 (Milwaukee) learned about us and quickly worked to support our efforts and introduce us to their larger community. They worked hard, sharing their personal time and resources, to organize a fundraising event and generously donated all their proceeds. They went to bat for us at their 2016 National meeting and secured an extremely large donation for us that allowed us to change another injured Veteran's life with the gift of a Harley. Since then, we've been able to meet many more CVMA WI chapters and members, and have found them all to be good people, trying to live their best lives after combat, and impact the lives of their Brothers and Sisters. Members often attend our Harley Giftings to show their support. Some have volunteered hours to support our events and many help share our info/opportunities so that others may benefit. When they say "just let us know if you need anything"... they mean it. They are trustworthy, dependable and conscientious. Even more impressive, they are all volunteers focused on helping others even when many of them are dealing with their own issues and struggles...and on top of family and work life demands.
We encourage our Veteran Recipients to consider becoming a member of CVMA because we find them to be upstanding, strong in their brotherhood and values-driven. And yes, they are bikers.
