Colorado African Organization (CAO) is a nonprofit organization that exists to support Colorado's refugee, immigrant, and asylum seeking populations in pursuit of integration, self sufficiency and freedom. CAO was founded in 2003 by Africans for Africans and was initially formed to be an umbrella organization for refugee communities where groups could work together towards integration rather than allowing the divisiveness of their past define their futures in America. Through a combination of community navigation, case assistance, education programs, and legal services, CAO now supports a broad range of individuals and families from all over the world (representing 50+ different nations) to integrate in Colorado after their initial arrival and resettlement process.
