I adopted 3 dogs from CRR over the years. I only had good experience with these guys. Whenever I had issues with my dogs health, Kathy and Tom were there to help.
I appreciate what these guys are doing for homeless pets and I can only say good things about CRR.
AND I am the one, who fostered Yoda. When my pom passed away I decided the foster a Pom. I called him Bobby, 3-4 years old Pom mix found as a stray near a vet. on CRR's website, Yoda was described as a stray found near a vet. Strays are not housebroken, he can't be a "perfect dog" but can be trained to be one. You can't expect a homeless dog to fit you needs from the beginning these dogs are not a toy. I took Yoda to Cumberland Animal Clinic for a physical exam while I was fostering him( 4 months). He was estimated to be 3-4 years old, had skin infection so I treated him. He ate same food and treats with my own dogs. I gave earthborn holistic coastal catch, Stella and chewy, bully sticks, and happy tail productions. Don't tell me these are low end dog food and treats. I also gave the NEW ONWER guy unopened bag of earthborn dog food to be safe. I specifically told him about the transition of one dog food to another, so I don't know what off street products his girlfriend gave Yoda to upset his stomach. He was only getting better when he left my house to get adopted.
I would STRONGLY advise NOT to adopt from these people. My brother and his gf adopted a 8 week old beagle mix puppy from them on Tuesday 3/28. On Thursday 3/30 the puppy was rushed to the vet and tested positive for parvo. The rescue will not accept any responsibility for the sick puppy. When reached out to them and asked for adoption fee to be returned for help with the vet expenses, they replied that's why the give out 30 day pet insurance. However the rescue failed to promptly send the insurance and it was not sent until Wednesday at 11:09PM. We were told the insurance takes 24 hrs to go into affect and since the puppy was taken to the vet Thursday morning before the insurance was activated the parvo was considered a pre-exsisting condition. So now my brother and his girlfriend are at a financial stress of over $600+. While also suffering emotional damage watching their new little puppy fight for its life. The rescue will not return any money to us or won't even respond to us about the matter. They clearly are not in rescuse for the right reasons and do not truly care about these animals! please think twice before adopting from these people.
I got a year old pup from Clover Run. Kathy Motter assured me the dog had a clean bill of health and was updated on all vaccinations. She also assured me that he tested negative for heart worms and Parvo. I had the dog two days when I noticed he started to fall ill. First he started having diarreah and then he started refusing food that same day. By the next day he was refusing water and vomiting. I tried reaching out to Kathy about the concerns I had for the dog. I ended up making an appointment with my local vet. While I was in the waiting room at the vet, Kathy finally responded and asked me to "not have the dog tested for Parvo". I thought that was a strange request and she didn't seem concerns for the dogs health because she didn't ask any questions concerning him she just made that one request. Of course I had the dog tested for everything under the sun...including Parvo. He tested negative for everything, except Parvo. I immediately called Kathy and confronted her about the positive test and the bad shape the dog was in. She was immediately combative and defensive. She even went as far as blaming me for the dog becoming ill with Parvo. To make matters worse I also owned an eight year old boxer who had now been exposed. I explained my concerns and disbelief that this could happen and how disappointed I was with her care for the dogs. She ended up hanging up on me and wouldn't answer my calls. I started digging into the rescue and found out some pretty incriminating information about the place. I found out the paperwork I was provided was falsified. The vaccinations the dog supposedly had were non existent with the exception of the rabies shot. Hundreds of dollars later I kept our furry friend because I felt he was in better hands being with us. However, I plan to raise awareness about their facility and what we went through. Beware and do your research before getting a dog from this place.
Let me just begin with saying that I have great respect for any shelter with such a great mission. I have spent many days volunteering with a similar organization closer to my home.
This past Christmas I received the best gift - a Pomeranian! Clover Run helped my boyfriend by keeping this "pup" for us until he was ready to give him to me. So again, I am so thankful for that.
HOWEVER, this shelter was extremely deceiving in the process. Customers will pay a premium price to adopt a dog, and we were completely fine with that - we wanted a certain dog. We thought we were getting a 3-year old pom who was already house-trained. We were very specific about what we wanted, and we were assured he was just right for us. Unfortunately I had to take "Yoda" to the vet within ONE WEEK of having him due to him having serious stomach issues. Again, at this point I did not find any fault with Clover Run. But come to find out, my "3-year old pup" was more like 7-8 at the youngest. We were told by two different vets about the same age-range. And just to "compliment" that, this dog has not been house trained a day in his life.
Yesterday we gave Kathy Motter a call just to update her on the situation. My boyfriend called and was honestly a lot more respectful than I would have been. Kathy immediately began arguing with him, calling him "RUDE" and would NOT let him get a word in about our concerns. I don't care WHO the heck you are - there is no reason to treat a customer in the way she did. All we wanted to do was tell them of our concerns in the situation and see if they might have advice to offer.
This shelter does many, many incredible things - I am sure of it. But be very careful about what you are looking for. I would never consider taking my sweet Yoda back, but this is NOT what we paid for. Very disappointed with the outcome of this situation, and I will make sure that it is noted anywhere I can leave a review. Sorry, Clover Run. You have certainly lost our business.
