Causes: Business & Industry
Mission: Clinton county economic alliance is a nonprofit organization created to increase employment and business opportunities by promoting and assisting with the expansion of existing commercial and industrial businesses in clinton county, conduct studies, develop land use and encourage the development of sound business plans by counseling business owners and managers, and to work with governmental agencies to assist in these development efforts. We will educate the public through various media sources about the advantages of plant and business locations in clinton county. All programs will be done in cooperation with both public and private agencies.
Programs: The clinton county economic alliance (ccea) is the lead facilitator on the historic rodney b. Wilson center project in downtown st. Johns, mi. The wilson center advisory committee is finalizing details to transforming the former high school into senior housing and a community recreation center through the sale to private investors and a recreation authority.
following a devastating fire on july 3, 2016, ccea staff worked with the owners of round lake produce & distribution to identify and lease an appropriate location of approximately 10,000 square feet to continue the business operation. Re-opening in late january, 2017, following extensive renovation to add a retail outlet, the company has since leased an additional 5,000 square feet and increased staff from 32 to 45 to handle the business expansion.
ccea facilitated meetings with a number of clinton county companies to familiarize them with the 2018fy skilled trades training fund (sttf), a grant program offered by the michigan economic development corporation (medc). Included in these meetings were representatives from the medc, clinton task force on employment/capitol area michigan works, and the lansing economic area partnership. Sttf grants were awarded to eight clinton county companies and totaled over 300,000.
