This is a great organization that helps people relate to their environment locally. Most of the 500 or so households that are members live close to the 500-acre wildland called Claremont Canyon. Many have committed to $1,000 over a 10-year period so that the organization can have a stable future. This issues are ecological restoration of the public lands, with a strong emphasis on native plants, and wildfire safety concerns at the urban/wildland interface. All board members and staff are volunteers with only a few jobs, such as bookkeeping contracted out.
