Mission: The City Rescue Mission has a rich Christian history, having been formed as a result of a spiritual awakening in New Castle (PA) after the famed evangelist, Dr. Billy Sunday, held a citywide crusade. In November 1911, the City Rescue Mission opened its doors to minister to the least, the last and the lost. Since then, the City Rescue Mission has stayed faithful to its evangelical heritage and has endeavored to minister to all who seek services by providing meals, shelter, clothing, spiritual counseling, training, recreation, education, and other useful help and assistance. The Mission now serves western Pennsylvania including the counties of Lawrence, Beaver, Butler, and Mercer.
