Causes: Arts & Culture, Theater
Mission: The mission of cinnabar arts is to enlighten, educate and entertain the community by presenting a wide range of works in theater, music and opera repertory. The size of the theater (capacity of 120) lends itself to productions that are intimate thereby insuring a unique and memorable experience for audience members. We present works that are relevant to contemporary life and challenging to professional artists and audience members alike. The young repertory remains a vibrant part of cinnabar arts as we train young people in the performing arts and help them make lasting and meaningful connections between performing arts and their daily lives.
Programs: This past year cinnabar theater produced 6 professional shows using professional talent from throughout the bay area. The mix of productions was one opera, one large musical, one experimental drama, one serious drama, one musical cabaret and one comedy. The musical cabaret was a west coast revival red hot mama, the music of sophie tucker, a very powerful work written, directed and performed by the same person. The young repertory presented 3 productions 2 american musicals and one shakespearean comedy; 3 summer camps that culminated in a disney musical and 8 unique theater classes were offered throughout the school year. Cinnabar choruses bring fine vocal music to the community. The ensembles provide a quality choral music experience for adults. The choruses strive to serve the greater community by producing public concerts and special events, advocating for the arts and allowing singers and audiences to grow through their interactions with fine vocal music. 4 choral concerts are presented each year.
