We were denied and I’m still leaving 5 STARS! Let me tell you why... we fell in love with a precious kitten named Raven at Petsmart. Filled out the paperwork, and waited for the home visit. Now, I read another review from a person saying that they would never do a home visit and thought it was sketchy. Listen, i’m sure that the volunteer coming to your house is way more frightened then you are- they are coming to a storage house to meet people that they don’t know And putting themselves between animals that they don’t know. If you don’t want people in your house vetting you to make sure youre a good fit for a new pet then what are you hiding? In our case it was absolutely essential. They don’t go snooping through your drawers and ask to see your tax returns, so you really need to chill out. What they actually do is bring the cat to you, make sure you don’t have too many animals per city ordinance (looking at you, guy with too many cats. Don’t b*tch at Cindy because YOU have too many cats, that’s not her fault) and that you’re getting the animal for the right reason and that it’ll be safe.
Anyhoo- Things started strong, our chihuahua loves the cat, but unfortunately our rottie/mastiff mix just couldn’t get it together so the volunteer, my husband and I mutually agreed that even tho his tail was wagging and she seemed at ease we couldn’t guarantee her safety if she stayed. We had her in a crate, and him leashed so there was a barrier and the volunteer was so helpful and patient with us and our dog Jax. He was watching their body language (which was ok but neither was totally at ease) and explaining everything he was thinking to us. He was so kind & helpful, and it broke all of our hearts to come to the conclusion that we did but we all know it was in the best interest for all animals involved. Jax’s personality was just not the same around Raven, and the sweet volunteer stayed over an hour trying to get them both to settle. Without the barrier we were worried Jax would attack. The volunteer was nothing short of amazing, and we are so sorry to have wasted his time. When the inevitable happens down the road and jax passes we will definitely come back to Cindy’s for a rescue. The home visit was essential in this case, without it things would have been a mess, so we are very grateful that they took the time to come over and help us. They do things RIGHT, and by the book, and are so kind, caring and compassionate. Thank you guys so much and I hope nothing but the best for Cindy, her volunteers, Raven and the other animals!!
