Mission: Ciclavia's mission is to promote improving public health, increase available public space, enhance community and economic development, and promote the use of non-motorized forms of recreation.
Programs: Between august 2016 and june 2017, ciclavia produced four events; approximately 220,000 people attended; 45% of the participants are female, 79% ride their bikes, 48% are between the ages of 30-50, race and ethnicity tracks that of la county with 38% hispanic, 38% white, 14% asian and 7% african american. New ciclavia routes for 2018-19 will see new communities of claremont, pomona, la verne and san dimas; we revisit theneighborhoods of pacoima, arlet, panorama city, dtla, boyle heights, chinatown, macarthur park and korea town. For the first time, we will partner with the iconic los angeles brand la phil with a la phil x ciclavia event celebrating la phil's centenial with a ciclavia event from disney hall to the hollywood bowl. All of ciclavia events will highlight the local culture, small businesses, art, and architecture of the neighborhoods we visit. In addition to the metro funding, which will cover a portion of the event costs, the individual communities and ciclavia will also contribute significant funds toward producing each route.
