The Chums of Barker Creek was founded in 1993. As a 501 (3)(c) they were able to obtain funding to purchase conservation easements on properties along Barker Creek. Also obtain funding to replace the inadequate culvert on Tracyton Blvd. The Three Springs site on Nels Nelson road was obtained for the purpose of creating an outdoor environmental learning center. It is owned by the Kitsap Parks Dept. but no one has come forward to be a leader to get this wonderful piece of property developed for learning purposes for the children of today and tomorrow. It would be wonderful to see this happen. Tom Williams did an extensive video along Barker Creek. I have a copy if someone would like to utilize it.
