Causes: Employment Preparation & Procurement, Job Training
Mission: Christian women's job corps of nacogdoches is a christian organization that offers job readiness training, computer software training, english grammar, basic math, life skills, bible study, personal finance, health and nutrition, parenting, and ged preparation classes to women in need. The organization also offers a satellite program, christian men's job corps of nacogdoches, that provides job readiness and life skills to men within the community.
Programs: Classes offered:in 2016, cwjc held four program sessions; two in the spring, and two in the fall and cmjc held two program classes. The spring session held classes mon. -thurs. , 9:00 to 3:00 for 14 weeks, offering a total of 336 hours of classroom instruction, while cwjc and cmjc both held night time classes which met three times a week from 5:30 to 9:00 pm for 14 weeks totaling 126 hours each. The fall session held classes mon. -fri. For 12 weeks, which totaled 324 hours of classroom instruction, while cwjc and cmjc both held night classes which met three times a week from 5:30 to 9:00 pm for 12 weeks totaling 108 hours each. In collaboration with the nacogdoches adult learning center, we offered ged preparation classes in both the spring and fall sessions from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, mon. -thurs. During the summer, we offered community classes in cake decorating and basic computer skills, as well as hosting the angelina college nurse aide course. Summer retreat was offered to program graduates and volunteers. Service statistics:total of 62 women and 8 men were served in all services offered. 31 women/ 7 men entered the cwjc/cmjc program classes18 women - participated in highschool equivilency classes or other continuing education classesgraduate statistics:27 women and 5 men successfully completed the cwjc/cmjc job training program during the 2016 calander year. 185 total graduates from 2005-2016 (176 women and 9 men)volunteer statistics:259 volunteers provided 5,846 documented volunteer hours. 27 volunteers served as mentors, serving approx. 648 hours.
