Mission: Create vibrant theater experiences that engage, educate, and inspire young people and their communities.
Programs: Five theatrical productions were produced during our 2016-17 season. Production attendance was about 20,000 including approximately 12,000 adults and 8,000 children. In addition, approximately 12,000 students attended 30 student matinee shows. Ticket prices were kept as low as possible so that people from all segments of society can attend. Our community outreach work offered 600 complimentary tickets to individuals, organizations and companies, including overture center's community voucher program and the goodman community center. These complimentary tickets enable low-income patrons access to our shows who otherwise could not attend. We also provided over 300 tickets to other non-profits for various fundraising events they held and to businesses in the community in exchange for in-kind donations.
over 60 drama classes for children were held during the year to develop children's interest in theater and increase their self-confidence and public speaking skills. Over 1,200 children participated with 40 of those enrolled receiving tuition-subsidizing. In addition, our high school residency program engaged 250 students across 6 schools in a grant-subsidized writing program, led by teaching artists, in partnership with the in-school teacher.
