Programs: Residential treatment and education is provided for children through black hills children's home near rapid city, sd and through sioux falls children's home in sioux falls, sd. 239 children, ages 4-14, most of whom are victims of abuse and neglect, were served in fy 2017.
the children's inn, located in sioux falls, sd, provides emergency shelter to battered women and abused children. Children's inn provided emergency shelter to 1,034 women and children in fy 2017.
the bright start program based in sioux falls, sd assists women to ensure they receive the care they need throughout pregnancy and for the first three years of their children's lives. In 2017, bright start served 173 families with home visitation services. Eight nurses completed 1,732 visits with the mothers, and the mental health therapist completed 313 therapy sessions in the clients' homes.
we also recruit, train, and qualify foster and adoptive families, and provide home studies of relatives being considered to receive a related child. We are a licensed child placement agency, authorized to place children for foster care and adoption. We served over 531 children and families in fy 2017. Chs does forensic interviews to provide child evaluations through our black hills child advocacy program. We served 307 children in fy 2017.
