CWOP has served as a beacon of hope for parents affected by NYC's child welfare system for decades. Through programming that ranges from parent support to parent empowerment, CWOP has helped to change the way in which parents engage with ACS. The organization's unrelenting dedication to social justice and deep roots in the community make it an outstanding nonprofit dedicated to NYC's children and their families.
My research with CWOP dates back to the past five years where we have explored issues such as parents' exposure to trauma across their lifetime and learning about supports that assist families once they have reunified from foster care. CWOP has been a great community research partner and parent advocates from the organization continue to work with me to distribute this knowledge to workers and policymakers in an effort to improve the experiences of other families.
Sincerely,
Tricia Stephens, LCSW-R, Ph.D.
