Mission: Cnf serves as the connective center of education and support for children and families living with neurologic conditions
Programs: Research grants: since 2001, child neurology foundation has awarded over 3. 5 million dollars to the research endeavors of 69 young investigators, aimed at identifying treatments and cures for pediatric neurologic diseases. Grants support translational, clinical, or basic research by child neurologists early in their academic careers.
education/advocacy: cnf serves as a convener in the child neurology community related to education and advocacy efforts, demonstrated by infantile spasms action network (25 national and international organizations collaboratively advocating for disease awareness), tranition project advisory committee (tpac; providers, caregivers and industry collaborating around the issues of transitioning yound adults into the adult health care system); sudden unexpected death in epilepsy annual education initiative (over 25 national partners collaborating to develop educational materials and distribute broadly to the larger community). Cnf provides community and family grants to support those partners' efforts.
transition program: in july 2016, cnf's first perr reviewed publication was released "the neurologist's role in transitioning young adults to the adult healthcare system: a consensus statement". Additoinally, transition project advisory committee (tpac) work continues in implementing the consensus statement's findings in the areas of youth/family education, clinical tools, and quality improvement. A new web portal was developed for youth and families, six new clinical tools and a survey to identify current transition services within the neurology community was drafted this past year.
