Mission: To serve the residents of the area by making readily available a variety of materials, resources and programs to promote education, information and recreation. The library's primary focuses are to provide a collection of popular materials for adults and to provide children's materials and serve as a resource for children's activities.
Programs: The library launched a new robotics program in 2016. The program is free of charge to the participants. Lego blocks are used to introduce children to robotics, engineering, mathematical and tech concepts. Pparticipants complete a fully functional robot and learn to program it using a computer. The robotics program runs once a week for two hours during the school year with an average of 5 - 6 students we also conducted a series of week-long summer camps focusing on robots and programing languages. Throughout the summer students used four robots, ipads and computers to program and build robotic components and robots. Estimated cost $6,8500.
john james audubon society bird programs this series covered various topics related to birds, gardening and the environment. The cost was $225.
shakespeare- a discussion with charles conwell. This series is led by a library patron charles conwell, a professor of theater at the university of the arts in philadelphia. Each session of the series focused on a different play written by william shakespeare. The program is free.
the library's largest service is to make available to area residents a variety of materials and resources to promote education, informations services and recreation. The library's focus is to provide adult and children's materials (books, magazines, ebooks, audio and visual materials. To that end, the library is open 52 weeks of the year. In 2016 there were 26876 patron visits to the library. 32001 items were circulated of which 14301 were children's materials and 2895 were in electronic media format. The staff fielded 525 reference questions. Attendance at the libary's programs totalled 2259 children, young adults and adults.
